So two pops means what?

So im getting the hang of my nls only time i have problems is from 1st - 2nd.

Today i did a nls from 1-2 with my windows down and i hear....

All i know is it doesnt happen anytime except from 1-2, its just two pops. I thought i read somewhere that two pops = bad, im not sure if my mind is making it up or not.

Yes two pops means you are not shifting quick enough and your car is hitting the rev limiter...one pop is good two pops is bad.

I feel like I'm going to break my shifter going from one to two, the shift comes so fast, especially after a launch (with LC or without). I heard someone broke their cables yanking the stick into gears, and that was 5 months ago! When the cars were new! I'm a pretty heavy handed guy, so, I only NLS once in a while to avoid damage.

That said, the 2-3 shift is so nice, one pop and the delightful sound off the tires almost letting go.

1-2 is really tricky though.

That's why there is a factory sponsorship (warranty). Don't worry about breaking it, cuz the dealer will fix it. My buddy had an LS2 GTO, and his shifter (yeah, the actual shifter) broke off in his hand because he was shifting so quick and hard. The dealer will take care of you if it breaks, this I am certain.

You shouldn't force or use a lot of strength to shift.... You do it fast but not hard ya know?

nls from 1-2 is harder then the rest (to me) its hard to judge when to hit it without hitting the limiter, and it seems to me like 2 pops is because you hit the limiter for a second... ive just refrained from 1-2 no lift just because of the tire spinning, if you get a good one you can actually leave marks on the road.... lol... even with lifting you can chirp....

little off topic, but does anyone else sometimes find it hard to watch the road, and keep one eye on the tach in order to pull off a perfect NLS?? correct me if I"m wrong, but interceptors can be setup for a shift light right?? if so, that would make life a little easier when I get one in a little while.

i've gotten used to the sound, I rarely even look anymore... I can't even remember the last time I fucked up and hit the rev limiter.... I DO NOT NLS 1-2... way too much wheel spin, I usually just short shift about 5000rpm and call it good

I suppose you would get used to the sound after a while. I just don't have the oppertunity to NLS all that often with traffic, and some pretty bad road conditions this time of year (potholes). the 1-2 shift is such a violent evolution I rarely try it, and 2-3 your moving pretty quick. I just think for me, having a shift light set to about 6k rpm would come in handy!

Yes, you can configure an Interceptor as a shift light, but really just get to know your car. The more you drive it the more you can get a feel of when to shift without needing a light or looking at your tach.
