So,whats the deal?

Ever since i have had my car, even in stock form,i have had this annoyance.

1st gear!Presently,i have byt's tune.

The problem:A quick half throttle from idle outta first gear, car takes off for a bit like it's gonna go somewhere quick, then falls on its face, then kicks back in!Mad buck,yo.

Only mods are Byt tune, injen cp and k@n filter.I need ideas here.It makes me wanna sell the car.Grr-

Sounds like either a tune issue or a throttle body sticking possibly? I'm more inclined to believe something mechanical byt isn't a zach06cobalt .

yea.I am thinkin there is blowby gettin worse by the minute.Sticking valves? It's my best guess for my limited knowledge.I am half tempted to put drop some cleaner into see.

I know first gear is supposed to be useless, but in a good way!

If this has been going since day 1, even with the car in stock form, I would probably lean toward it being something mechanical. Do you have hptuner by any chance? If so I would say contact BYT and run a log or 2 with the issue happening so he can give them a look over. He should be able to tell you if something funny is going on with the tune or if it's purely a mechanical issue. If it is mechanical then it might be time to hit up the dealer for some warranty lovin..

GL man.. Hopefully you can get it straightened out

mine does that when its not warmed up right or when i dont use the throttle right. depending on how u drive, throttle response in first gear is different iv notticed, if ur nice for a while it will take off in first like a normal car, if u gun it alot, a little press on the throttle and it wants to go hard, if ur not use to it or not ready, even a little bit of easing up will make it buck like that, thats just what iv noticed with mine.

No hp tuner. If you see the secret message encoded in this thread,i have spent enough on tuning and have no hp tuner.hindsight is 20/20 they say.

Will keep that in mind tomj, but i am pretty subtle with my pedal. It is ultra sensitive, but who does'nt wanna takeoff a tad hard outta first sometimes?I will say,if the car has even remotely cool air,it acts beautiful.

Do you have an A/F gauge installed in the car by any chance? Reason I ask is this is an easy way to monitor KR (knock retard). If you are seeing any significant KR the A/Fs will temporarely go pig rich at WOT (probably in the area of 11.5:1) causing a serious power reduction momentarily. It almost sounds like you could be seeing KR due to high AIT's but without actually being there or viewing any sort of logs this is obviously just a wild guess.

Thanks for that thought.Byt spent about 30 minutes with me logging me while driving in every manner, but i think it was around 70c that day. Now,its much hotter.Just know,i am not trying to peg it,i am giving it a quick half pedal and this result happens frequently.

Unfortunately he can't tune your IC to cool your AITs more efficiently. Either way it was a guess but it just sounds like the culperate.

Warm weather = momentary power reduction
Cool weather = car has no issues

Thank your slow ass TB (ETC). As was already said, it depends on how you drive and press the pedal, especially in 1st.

I drive Dodge Charger r/t's all day for work. They do it REALLY REALLY REALLY bad. Mustangs suck so you just can't compare haha. The traction control is lame as hell on every car.

My theory here is that asian drivers are f-ing with us. Back in the day you could buy a 500hp big block chevy in a COPO Camaro. It didn't have traction control. Then all of a sudden lexus makes a car that can park itself. The asian's are f-ing with us I tell you. They can't drive so now we all have to deal with traction control it's a conspiracy!!!

HAHAHA don't hate asian drivers you know you can't drive. HAHA

If someone doesnt want to read the thread they dont have to. Not everyone on here is an *******. I have been on a diesel forum similar to this one for a few years. For the most part it is full of guys who are happy to help. I have found that it's the same here. I plan on asking many a dumb question on here. This is the craziest little motor I have ever dealt with. All infomation is good.
