I went with Autolite Iridium blah blah blah....they were the only thing Iridium that Autozone had in stock...the dealership didn't have the factory plugs in stock and my car was misfiring like a pig....but I would have gone with the factory ones if I could have.

Mine likes the 3787's better than 6509's that have to be gapped way down, some like 'em, some don't. The 6509's are also 1 HR colder but come gapped to .044. Hard to squeeze them down to .031 or so, farther than NGK recommends also.

6510's are two ranges colder, same gapping issues.

No one has ever had a problem using stock plugs. I have a tune and stock plugs with 19K miles on them. No issues.

I melted a stock #2 on mine last week, went back to the 3787's.
No KR logged during ANY pulls.

NGK 5476 is what the stockers are. Look at the engraving just above the threads, it'll be there.

It's better to err on the colder side, not likely to foul out anyway. I ran 2 steps colder for 10k miles on 6510's without issue, just hard to gap down to .031 from .044 outta the box.

i used the 6509 for a while, gapped to about 31-32, my car hated them so much, knocked even at idle, went back to stock, problem solved. i might try the 3787 sometime though

As far as I know, you're the only one that has documented this problem with stock plugs.

From your Mods list..
Could this be a factor?
Trifecta/HP tuned on 3 bar MAPs for 60% Ethanol
24 psi Boost

BTW..COLDER plugs are likely to foul more if you're not in the range they specify.

I guess what i'm saying is that a typical tuned TC does not require colder plugs and may actually perform worse if your in a colder range. Your case is certainly an exception. Most of the tuned cars are under 23lbs and do not use ethanol in high concentrations. I take it your timing is pretty *aggressive* as well?

From NGK:
NGK Spark Plugs USA

When using an ethanol blend fuel with high ethanol content in high performance applications, a colder heat range may be necessary. The spark timing can be advanced further because ethanol blend fuel has a higher resistance to knock (higher octane). Due to the decreased knock, there will be less audible “warning” from knock before the spark plug overheats and pre-ignites

I tried 3787, and got a little more knock. Nothing significant, but it wasn't worth it for me. I have a set with very little miles if someone wants them.

Been running the 6509's for awhile with 0 knock and gapped at .32. I had one time multiple misfires on a cold morning in the low 30's and had like 10 misfires in 1st cylinder on my AeroForce, but later went away. Never got any CEL or DTC codes, which is weird. I was worried I was going to break down, but my car has been running normal since the weather changed. So far no problems occurred afterwards.

you go to your local AutoZone or Advanced to buy the special tool for spark plug gapping. I believe its two of them you need. One to bend them and two to measure the gap to make sure it meets your specs.
