ss/tc with a boost controller

i met the 4th ss/tc in the area a couple weeks ago and he had a hahn intake and a boost controller..nothing else. no tune to disengage the learn-down feature...was i wrong in telling him that it wasnt gonna help him to boost the 20 lbs he claims he was boosting because the car will cut it off...was he lying to me when he said he was consistantly boosting that much??? just kinda curious as to what it would do to his car??

I suppose it would work, but the car ecu will probably retard the timing to compensate. I doubt he is making any more power then stock.

I had read a post on here from someone who has more knowledge then me, so this is purely heresay; I think I read that with the boost set at 20 psi but with the learn down feature still active, the car will just spike to the 20 psi for a moment and then the learn down will pull it back down to stock levels. Like I said tho, this is only IIRC from what I read. Could be wrong.

sure he can be boosting 20 p.s.i.

but the ecu will just turn everything else down so he'll still only make 260hp

The ECM will most likely close the throttle slightly becasue it will not allow the factory desired airload settings to be exceeded. So he should still be making about the same amount of power as stock.
