Im looking into picking up a used pcm for my ss/tc because i want to get mine tuned but after all of the info i read about gm being able to find tunes, its making want a second pcm.

Whats involved to get it to work, is it just plug and play or does it have to be calibrated by the dealer????

Plug and play. See if GTPprix still has any

 

hit up GTPrix. ask to buy one. hell tell u where to pay pal him. put ur VIN # in the comments box. wait a week or 2. comes to ur house.

unplug stock ecu. throw on the new one. crank it once. turn it off. crank it one more time. (FYI ur oil life resets)

then go tune it. bam. done. ready to go

 

I couldn't wait for it to come in so I tuned my stock one and ill just use the one from him for my secondary

 

mine started funny when i first put it in but i jus let it run and it ran fine after bout 30 seconds

do you have to unplug your battery b4 you swap? im gonna probobly get a quick disconnect for my negative battery terminal. i find myself ******* with my battery alot lately

nice. so its just those 2 black plugs right on top. thats easy enough.

 

yeah just remove the plugs. dont b afraid tho. remember to crank it once. THEN TURN THE KEY BACK! or it will keep cranking. then turn the key the second time. and it should fire right up. let it run for like 5 mins or so

 

So how much are these?

 

im pretty sure they can tell if you been tuned even with a second ecu, they will just scan your body control module. least so i have heard not 100% but i have heard this alot.

i would do it the other way around if you could otherwise it might throw a red flag if they notice that the ecu isnt the factory one bart. they might start asking why its been replaced
