Stainless also helps with heat dispersion

its not actually aluminum its aluminized steel it is steel that has been hot-dip coated both sides with aluminum-silicon alloy. it helps to prevent against corrosion but it will still rust

I prefer stainless, as long as they use stainless flanges and flex Otherwise you end up with a spotless pipe and owned everything else.

304 ss all the way 409 is mixed with black steel and still rusts. 304 does not.

aluminized... who gives a **** if 15 years down the road it will rust! Plus it's 1/2 the price of stainless!

my d/p is stainless

but my 3in catback is aluminized

who cares about stainless... who is goin to see under your car? and why pay 2x more

stainless last longer but all in all u probably wont have the car that long before the aluminum gives you a problem

i say aluminumized steel... saves money... and will sound the same

I agree.
Why not save the money so you can spend it some where else on the car?

Aluminized = More economical choice

Some of us like owning tight ****, thus why there is a choice Not bagging on anyone, but even if nobody sees it.... I like knowing I have sweetness on my ride. Not to mention I just like welding stainless more in general heh. Buy a TIG and you'll know what I'm talkin' about.

Stainless DP's are only worth it if they are full stainless, most places don't use stainless flanges, so the flanges still rust...

Aluminized, galvanized, whatever you do to it, mild steel rusts, quickly, in a corrosive exhaust environment, it gets exposed to high heat and chemical byproducts of interna combustion, they rust from the inside out even if you don't live in a bad evironment. It will take a long time to see the effects though, and usually the cheaper cost is worth it.

I've had both, my stainless DP was ok, nothing special. The aluminized one behind my cermaic coated header did it's job very well also.

if they salt the roads at all where you live...you may want to go stainless just to be safe. my exhaust on my old truck rusted out real quick up in northern ohio...like less than a year. wished i had gone stainless.

For any place that has salt on the roads during winter people need to understand that the clorides from the salt combined with water makes for a chloride solution with will attack both aluminum AND stainless steel alloys. However, this solution is much more aggressive on weaker metal surfaces thereby resulting in pitting, crevice, and other types of localized corrosion. Basically nothing is bullet-proof, but going with a more resistant metal up front will allow for more reliability down the road... Oh, and rinsing the underside of your vehicle is essential in the winter...

Correct, and 99% of the time the flanges are mild on "stainless" downpipes/exhaust products I've bought. Usually the flex section itself will be stainless, but the weld-on sleeves are typically not. Pretty rare to find a 100% stainless piece unless you're making it yourself or at least providing the materials.
