Steering column question

Been noticing (hearing and feeling) a very slight clunking in the steering wheel when turning wheel back and forth quickly while car is stationary but also when car is moving slowly. Had column replaced as well as intermediate shaft only last year. Could this just be the norm for this car? Cuz of excessive lash.... Kinda reluctant to go back into dealer and go through all the hoops to get another column all over again. Plus gotta a few mods on car but no suspension or wheel mods. I can't imagine dealer linking a mild tune and tranny mount to a steering.column especially since gm sued manufacturer of their steering components!!

column

JTEKT I believe is the manufacturer of steering components for cobalt. They did that recall with steering motor but that didn't solve the excessive lash problem in the column. Many cobalts have a clunking steering sound and feel. Gm sued that aforementioned company for all the steering column warranty claims. But they are still in bed with them!! Just wait til it gets real loud and go in and get another column and check with a service rep, perhaps an update was made with making of column.

Yup, made by JTEKT I think. Gm sued them for their crappy steering columns. Many cobalts have same problem. Check with a service rep to see if they updated anything. Just keep getting them replaced til then.
