Can the stock charge piping hold up with a trifecta tune?

that plastic bullshit cant hold up without a tune...alot of people said as they were driving with nothing just bone stock the plasict peices pop loose on the highway....have someone sit in your car you open the hood and have them hit the gas pedal and see what your tubing does...it will rise so high you think its gonna break any second.

Mine is fine...the only people that talk about it on there are the ones with problems...

There are plenty of people who aren't having issues...

Dude I still have the stock tubing with a trifecta tune for at least 1500 miles and I have never had an issue, and I do burn mine up plenty enough,

Dosn't mean I won't upgrade in the future just don't have the funds as of yet

I can't see the piping itself having any issues, just the connections. I plan on getting a Tune in the next week or two and I'll tighten the clamps. If they blow off, I'll get a set of T-Bolts.

If you live in an environment prone to long periods of very cold weather then you may want to look into upgrading in the future. The stock should hold up well, now that we are heading into warmer weather. I acutally recommend upgrading the hot side only if you are looking to get rid of restrictions. For the amount of pain and suffuring involved in installing the cold side - you don't really improve over what is currently there...

You'd have an air leak which would mean loss of boost.

Otherwise, it would idle/run fine.

Might throw a CEL though?

It rises - note that it does not bend anywhere it's not supposed to. There are a couple flexible sections to dampen your everyday vibrations. Those stretch a bit under heavy boost, but they are made to.

I have been tuned to 20+ for over 10k miles without an issue. One thing *everyone* should do, tuned or not (but especially if you're tuned), is to go through and tighten every clamp on the stock piping. I was able to turn some of them with just my fingers. I think this, combined with the increased boost, is what's causing many of the problems people are having.

^^ QFT. I tightened the clamps at the turbo and on the IC, they were pretty loose from the factory...I don't care if they were torqued to spec and the spec is just really low, they were TOO loose IMO. I've been on the tune for 1000 miles though with no issues and I get on it pretty frequently. I'm gonna go with Dejon's hotside piping when I have some extra cash just because I think it looks better, I don't think it's necessary to upgrade the coldside. Haha, I just noticed you're from Phoenix Tomtwtwtw, what part of the valley? I'm over in Peoria... I've yet to see another SS turbo round these parts.

I also think outside temps have a large part in the pipes the crack or explode. It never gets very cold here so the temp swing isn't very large...these pipes get HOT after seeing boost, like REALLY hot. The temperature fluctuations from an area that sees really cold winter temps are going to make the plastic crack over a long enough timeline...it's simple physics.

Yep. Same for me. No issues at all. Not one... with the stock charge piping. I rack up quite a few miles every week so I have over 14K miles ON THE TUNE with no issues.

I will say though, when funds become available I will upgrade it. For now though, it's working just fine.

We have run up to 30psi and many long pulls at 25psi with the stock charge tubing without any issues. I'm not saying we won't upgrade soon, but so far we have had no issues.

Signs your boost tubing has 'popped off':

- Pop or bang sound originating under the hood
- No boost

This issue does not necessarily throw a cel (mine didn't). You can still drive the car short distances (don't get on the gas). Check the clamp at the throttle body on the cold side first. It is the hardest to get to and usually the one that isn't tightened properly (even stock)...

Note - It is possible to pop the piping off even if you car isn't tuned...

So what are the sizes of the t-bolt clamps for the stock piping? I don't look forward to upgrading the piping for a while and would rather just upgrade the clamps on the stock pipe to be on the safe side.

The clamps on the stock piping are built into the piping itself. When I removed my stock piping I noticed that there wasn't really a way to properly replace the clamp. Hopefully someone who was successful with this can provide more insight...
