Its a variation of the one the air force uses on the f-18 hornet. If you mod your car enough, you can actually get an afterburner effect from your exhaust. Everybody now calls me Maverick because of mine.

I pretty much got my turbo to turn into a fire ball tonight. I didn't think we had an orange underhood light in these cars...

Slightly... I was trying to dial in my boost controller, which consisted of a hard pull, stop, turn it up another notch, hard pull, stop... etc.

Umm yeah, I went for a 10 minute cool down drive, got back home, it was still slightly red, so I let it sit for about 2 minutes to cool down some more. I know not to push it that far and then put it away wet.

I am wondering if I am running a bit too lean though... I am running about a 12.5 afr.

ya but you have to remember its not a twin turbo system, its a bi-turbo. So rarely are both of them spooling hard, its more of a high low system.

Sht. I thought the guy was being sarcastic about the turbo. Excuse the ******* response above. Regarding our cars, I know they have a stock turbo timer for the K04, but what about the solstices? I have read that when the solstice guys are boosting above 16-17 PSI for extended amounts of time, that they basically need to do a cool down session like mkriebs did.

This is my second turbo car and I still let mine idle after driving it for about a minute or so, or just cruise with no boost my last couple miles, but still is it needed on our cobalts like some recommend on the solstice forums?

I would recommend this. If you have been pushing it, give it a break before you put her away wet. Nothing crazy though, just a minute or 2 like you have been doing.
