stripped bolt

im so pissed at myself,
i installed the new bpv spring today, and stripped one of the bolts that holds on the plat, 2 of them tightened nice the last one didnt seem to, then i realized it was stripped. so i put some high heat rtv on it, and snugged it as snug as i could now ill just wait for the rtv to dry to keep it on there good.
u guys think this is good enough or am i gonna have to get it fixed?
crap i hope i don't leak boost.

theres tools to take em out...I had to do this on my snowboard one time when I stripped the binding screw on it... you got a bolt tho so I am not sure what to do...try looking for a sort of drill that you drill into the bolt then pull it out. this is what I did with the screw but a bolt would be different. I also dont know whats under the bolt so I'm just throwing ideas out there

i didnt break the bolt, i can get it out fine, i just cant tighten it as tight as id like it, the thread on the turbo itself is stripped. the bolt is fine.

heli coil?? what?

i tested it, and it seems to be good, not noticing any leakage, but i will keep my eye on it. although with the new spring when my car is warming up when i start it, instead of it blowing off i now get compresser surge, how nice. but when i drive its good, i guess that would be the stiffer springs fault.

Any parts store. It comes with a drill bit, some heli coils, tap and the tool to insert them. You drill out the threads you have striped, run the tap through to make the bigger threads, and insert the heli coil. Then you have the same size threads you already have. easy as 123

Heli Coil.

You drill the hole bigger. Then you tap it with the heli coil tap. Then you install the heli coil(like a spring). Then you install your bolt. It will be much stronger than the old aluminum threads.

there is no way i have enough room to do the heli coil thing. ill just leave it if it keeps, good if it dont, i'll use a tap and clean out the hole and it should work, it didnt strip by much, usually when u clean out the damages part of the thread it works again. but it seems to be holding fine, and the rtv will keep the bolt from comeing loose, not that i think it would have, but just to be safe.

ya i agree, but i have it in already but to late. its holding fine though, drove it hard, checked it out, it seems to be tight enough.

only thing i dont like about the spring, other than i can't hear any diff in sound from my old one. is i get a little bit of compressure surge when i first start driving when i just start it, it sounds cool, but it dont do my turbo no good, but i guess its just like in winter, i got surge for the first minute or so of driving in the cold weather.

That spring was probably applying pressure to the plate when you tightened the two screws and the third probably went in crooked. I pushed the plate in and held it with a really large hand clamp so I could hand thread the screws and then go slow on em. I had problems with the lower front bolt closest to the head cause there is not lots of room in there.

just did this like 2 hours ago. What a pain in the ASS. and honestly I dont hear any difference in sound. Dropped the BPV seal when i was taking it out so had to jack the car up, put it on stands, then crawl under it with a light and look for it. Putting the new spring in was one of the most annoying things ever lol.

Actually does seem like my boost is peeking 1lb higher. it hit 15 lb's now. Since i put my intake in i dont remember it ever hitting that high.

i held it on with my hand as i tightened it, but i figured the bolt might have gone in crooked. but its working so doesnt matter, no leaks no bolt comeing out.

yea mine fell and was balancing on the frame. i was like...where the hell did it go!? but i havent noticed any compressor surge yet. like i said it sounds pretty much the same but it squeeks more now when it blows off at low boost high rpms. it used to do that in the past with the old spring but just seems to do it more often now. not really a problem, just the blowoff sound.
