Suncoast hood
Suncoast hood
Just wondering if anyone is running this hood with a turbo cobalt? Would like one for my sedan but not sure if it will fit due to the heat extractors touching the charge pipe!
^ Really seems like it would be ideal for someone with a K&N SRI... hint hint. lol
The "ram air" effect probably wouldn't produce any perceptible gains, although you might hear more turbo spool if the sound reverberates back up through the ducting. The big draw of this hood is A) the metal reinforced construction:
, and B) the location of the extractor vents seem to be good for a turbo setup.

Suncoast Automotive Performance does not currently do CF. Maybe someday, but don't wait. It will not be in the cards for some time. If you need carbon fiber go elsewhere. Sorry.
As SSdude wrote earlier, our hoods are always top quality, made in the USA, Fiberglass. Mostly fiberglass that is. They also contain steel reinforcement, other stiffening materials and structural adhesives to create a bolt on replacement for the factory hood. No flimsy sh** here!

I've even got the post history to prove it...

Well, I was thinking that since people like the SRI, but are giving up the cold air aspect of it, why not have a "CA-SRI"?
With this combo, you'd be getting colder air into your engine bay for your SRI, delivered right to it. Excess hot air would also be ventilated away from the SRI. Not to mention if you seal the air box/filter area then you've got slightly better flow from the ram-air too.
Seemed like a bit of a solution to the downfall of a SRI due to it being in the engine bay.

Mine is a TC. I just dont care for the opening cause I am not running a sealed unit to get any benefit from the Ram air. Suncoast has the intake for the SC etc.. to make it seal.
im sure they could swap the side.
most ppl run a CAI anyways and the filter is no where near the top where the hole would be

Yeah, I agree on the nice location of the extractors. The only problem I possibly have is the fact that they drop into the hood like that. Since heat generally rises and you're trying to channel airflow out through them, I'd imagine you'd want something concave from the underside. Know what I mean?

Haha... that was an idea that I had too before the K&N SRI even existed. We're on the same wavelength.

As you can see, I'm a big fan of the idea.

the air flow over the extractors is what extracts the warmer air out of the engine bay...just sayin
