Now, by no means am I comparing the SS/TC to a Porsche, but it is truly amazing to me that the SS/TC got a direct injected engine before some of the most expensive Porsche super cars on the market.
It is times like this that I really appreciate what an awesome car I have...

Yeah, no kidding...
I find it funny that SNAAB didn't get the DI engine in 08..and I really don't know why no DI for 09.

They also just chopped the warranty for SAABs (4yr/50k instead of 5/100) and for whatever reason no more GM employee discount on 9-3s. There must have been some agreement that ended or something. Regardless, SAABs are too expensive for what you get (thus why there are usually 2-4k worth of incentives on them) and too prone to having problems.
its Saab

Oh c'mon! Of course I know it's Saab. There is actually a younger woman in Ferndale with a silver 06 Saab 9-3 with the plate: SNAAB...
Sure, it's on Wiki, but since we all know the credibility of that, clicky.
That's another reason why it has been slow to catch on. It tends to be noisier, and it's more complex and expensive. With emissions and fuel prices, the cost of DI is becomming less of an issue. But like with most things, as it becomes standard, the price will drop and technology will get better.
