So I have been running the car for a while without a turbo timer, just letting the car idle for a few minutes every time I shut it off. I just don't like the idea of my car sitting with the keys in it, especially when I walk away from it at meets and at home(not like there's ever many people at meets though, usually 30-40 people and around 25 cars). Well, I looked around for turbo timers left and right and it was getting hard to find one for under $100 and lets just face it, its not that I don't have the money but for $100 I'll just let the keys sit in the car, if someone steals it that's what insurance is for....and if they make it 100 yards before wrecking it or stalling it I'll be amazed.
Well, just so everyone knows Ebay is your friend....$30 shipped for a brand new black with white lighting HKS Turbo Timer...those of you with the stock turbo or zfr you don't neccesarily need this, but guys running a larger just oil cooled turbo like me do.

not saying yours is a fake by any means...i certainly hope it is not. everyone just needs to be careful when buying these products on ebay...or even used for that matter...cause you don't know where they're coming from and sometimes its hard to tell if they're real or fake.......especially online
I'll let you know if its fake when I get it. If it is I'm out $30. Not too worried. It does however say HKS on the timer identically made like the HKS turbo timer so I'd hope not. The tial remakes don't have the tial name on them but look identical to a real Tial.

not true:

TiAL Sport.com

Wasn't trying to say you bought a fake one. just putting it out there that the fake parts run rampid on ebay. and fakes have gotten real good lately. just trying to say to everyone to use caution when purchasing some of these parts on ebay.

Yeah, I mean from what I can tell the only things different are cheap connectors and the film they put over the plastic for color and labeling is cheap. I'm cutting the connector off more than likely anyways and using wire taps to wire it up. Same way I did my line out converter for my stereo in both balts.

While Texas Transportation Code Section 545.404, prohibits the operator of a motor vehicle from leaving the vehicle unattended without stopping the engine, locking the ignition, and removing the key from the ignition at least one Texas court has held that this section of law only applies to vehicles parked on public highways and streets. The Cities of Dallas, Austin and Arlington have also interpreted Texas Transportation Code Section 545.404 in a similar manner.

jfyi unless the city has passed a ordnance relating to the law that extends it to a off street public location and private streets the law is only for public strrets and highways. So if you go into a parking lot the law no longer is in effect. Just wanted to share that.

Lol, thought something was fishy about that. I don't live in Texas but my car is always in a parking spot when left running, whether its my driveway or a parking lot.

Another thing to remember is most policies (if not all, but I can't say for sure on all...) have language in them that will allow them to deny a claim based on negligence, which leaving your keys in the car clearly falls under...

I'm never more than 30 yards away from the car. If they consider that negligence then what about people who start their cars and let them warm up in the wintertime in their driveway. Is that considered negligence? If it is they would lose horribly in court if I were to involve a lawyer.

I'm not a lawyer for an insurance company so I don't know what they consider, but yeah, I would consider it negligent. Doubt they would lose in court since if it's in the policy that they can deny your claim for leaving the keys in the car and you do, then it's your fault not theirs.

Pretty much everything you buy name brand for cheap on eBay is fake. My buddy got a Greddy bov that we later found out was fake. He got a tial wastegate... Fake. The 5000 fake turbos on there. eBay sucks you get what you pay for.

Mine came in today as well. Doesn't look like a knock off. They use a splice connector that you can buy and the connector comes with instructions on what color wires do what. Thats why it doesn't tell you what wires do what on the connector. There's a writeup on ss.net on how to wire a turbo timer up. He tells you about the different wires. They should be the same color but I believe he used an apexi.

You need to connect the rest of the harness. Red is 12v source, green is ignition, blue is acc, brown is ebrake. Found that in a 30 sec search.

I hooked red to a 12v source, black to ground, i hooked blue up to the brown wire on the ing which im guessing is the acc (saw it in a thread) and I could not find this so called pink wire but I saw in a thread where you hook the green to the yellow wire.... but that didnt work. so let me know which wires you hook yours to when you hook your up.

Ok will do, try hooking up the ebrake too. It needs to be on to be activated. Also you may have to press a button to turn it on as they can be turned off.

There are lots of car starters with turbo timers where you don't need to leave your keys in.

Easy as cake. Wiring colors I mentioned should still apply to the apexi timer

RED/BLACK is the 12V Constant at the BCM
Ignition is Yellow at the green plug on steering column.
Acc is Brown, also at that green plug.
