Finally somebody showing me this! I'm gonna check that out tomorrow...If I get this right. What's frustrating is that they don't stay lined up after you rotate timing.

Forget about where it is after you rotate it just make sure everything is lined up and the tensioner is released

Telling someone who's having issues to not verify their work is bs. He should be triple checking everything.

Yelcal listen to me when I tell you that you need to rotate the motor more then 5 times before the marks line up. I work on these cars daily. If you never lined up the crank though you need to start there.

pm me your number and I'll try to guide you through over the phone if I can.

Oh Man! It's a long way for me to explain step by step. It'll be crap loads of explaining to list...Took me about 1 hour to take off then 2 hours to put it back right. I know my way around except that thin shim cover the bottom of crank gear until this guy and Mongorat were telling me about. I just found out today then did the right thing.

...

Old thread, I know, but I'm doing this right now. How many times do you need to spin the motor before the marks line up after initial set? And do you need to install the intake cam side chain guide after the chain is in and set?

It will take many rotations for the marks on the chain to line up with the sprockets....

As long as the timing mark on the harmonic dampener, and cam sprockets line up after a rotation (@ TDC) you are good to go.

Would that be two rotations they should line up(sprockets, not chain)? That last suggestion im having trouble visualizing

When you rotate the engine to TDC. The sprockets and timing mark on the front cover should line up.

To get the colored timing marks to line up like when you first set the timing will take many rotations.
