TOB question for sebleroux
But would that cause it to leak in the bell housing ? I will call the guy in the morning, the people that did my clutch the secvnd time around are amazing at what they do so I can see it be an issue with wrong install, sorry I'm gunna send back the pressure plate and they will send me a new one. It litterally felt like it exploded under my foot it just let go and automatically started slipping?
the block fits on a clutch pipe, with a seal, and is located into a black keyed plastic receptacle in the bellhousing. A hairpin clip fits in the block to keep it in place.
IF
the block is not placed properly and keyed into the black receptacle.
IF
the hairpin clip is not placed correctly in the block
IF
there are two seals (one left behind from the previous clutch pipe) and one on the new one
AND
the block is assembled it may hold pressure for a while
then it
MAY
pop off and cause brake fluid to go every where especially on the clutch.
immediate slip
and pours out of the bellhousing.
my.02 c.
piktars later maybe

And btw I used my tow hoooks to tow my car last week there solid as hell !

Sent you pictures. here are some more:
where the clip locates on the stem
the block in place
the block must key into the black plastic receptacle
the underneath of the block with the hair pin clip in place see how it straddles the bridge

i use a plastic plug when servicing the clutch placed in the block to stop fluid leaking out

the clutch pipe with the seal on top ridge down
placing the seal on the pipe; new pipes have a seal. make sure when you replace it, the block doesnt have the old seal stuck inside it

thats all for now... good luck

I serviced the same problem on a few customer's Cobalt's in the last four months..
I found the black keyed plastic receptacle in the bellhousing was broken [one of the four little tabs was broken].. and the pin clip that holds the pipe was missing.. one of the customer's did state, the last shop had a hard time getting the clip back in place.. the repair shop did test drove the car before releasing it back to him.. WTF??
I'll bet money - it is possible for the OP - the shop tech didn't install the clip back properly or it didn't "fully seat in place" or the tab on the black plastic receptacle is broken or loose - if it's loose the pressure will hold after a few times then fail- I tried a few time until the clip seated right [PITA!!!!!!!!] especially with rubber gloves..
****To all of the folks who are looking to swap or change clutches..****
ALL CLUTCH RELATED PARTS NEEDS TO GET REPLACED!! especially when a new Clutch or TOB is installed.. Yes it will cost a little more to get the parts.. but I tell my customers it better to be safe and sorry.. pay for the insurance now, not later when your stuck on the side of the road..
ask me how i know.. blown one stock @430TQ and two STG4 ZZP and two TOB @450TQ+..

Ky clutches have had three different discs ( the sachs racing plate, which is the stock lnf plate... Average clamping load is 1700-2300) ..... ( the lsj pressure plate which is a luk presure plate and usually has a clamping force of 1800-2400) (and the same pressure plate with the diaphrams welded to get up to 3300+ clamping load if needed (which isnt because the slave will pop)... The colors of the pressure plates are just paint ky clutch uses.... I am the tester along with the one who over looked many prototype clutches for a few vehicles.....
They test the claping load before they send them out... 90% OF THE ISSUES WITH SOMEONE WORKING ON A CAR THEY ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH IS THE FACT THEY ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE VEHICLE.

Bahh man I'm gunna make sure I point this out before they start taking everything apart again. But yes james you are right I live in ottawa canada there is not a lot of people that have the lnfs nor do they have any mods so no need for stage three clutches. I do believe that ky clutches make an amazing profuct ! Do not get me wrong this clutch is gunna make it in my car somehow ahaha but thank you if they do not wanna check it I will make sure I do it before wasting more money, ill let you guys know around noon the guy opens at seven
[SIZE="2"]After the dealer installed my new clutch 2 years ago the TOB failed 2 days later at 50 miles. I bought 2 new TOBs and pipes and the block. When installing the parts on the trans I checked the new TOBs and noticed that one of them was binding on itself. It would not move in and out freely. I checked the blown one and sure enough it was bound up in the full uncompressed position. I also then installed a ZZP adjustable rod since I am running a Spec Stage 3 setup. I adjusted it to its shortest length which is shorter than stock and its still in that position. I have 4000 miles on the setup with no problems. Like was stated befor use all new small parts and check the TOB for freedom of movement or get a real pro like John to do the install.SIZE]
I had a ky 2.5 put in about 2 and a half months ago and had a shop who is very good with Tuner cars put it in but they knew nothing about the SS. Needless to say they fucked up and sprayed fluid all over my clutch because they didn't put the little black piece back on in the clutch pipe. They blamed my new TOB so I bought another and when they were installing it they then noticed that is was in-fact the clutch pipe like I said. So much aggravation just over a clutch. I wish powell wasn't on the other side of the gta but I'm going to have to drop my car off to them and have everything replaced. I don't think I will go with KY again because it's making squeaks on take-offs and it just started to chatter like crazy.
Yea I checked the entire systeme myself the first time it happend and everything seemed perfect now I got the shop to check it this time and they said it was nice there was no debris the little black piece was there as well so I think it could only be the pp at this point so who the hell knows I haven't the car for 2 weeks now aha I jsut want the thing running

lmfao some people need to understand the functionality of clutches.. Other then the fact its what holds the power.. All pucked clutches or even ceramic clutches will have chatter.
