best time was a stinking 14.5 ( i ran 14.1 in my s/c stock @98 mph) bright side is there is loads of room for improvement consistant trap of 102.98 mph even trapped 104
Your times aren't too bad. what kind of 60's were you getting? I wish we had a 1/4 mile close to me. I took mine to the 1/8 mile and cant get off the line for crap. I guess going from a Camaro to a Cobalt will take some getting use too.
^excatly.. two different car's.. one ? tho.. use the COMP mode or no? cause IIRC there have been a few lucky people to have good ET's and trap's with and without it.. and also did you touch the front tire PSI? the PSI can only help.. the COMP mode is a preference..
I've got just under sixty passes on my car and have played around a lot trying different launch techniques. I mostly run in Competition Mode but have never used the launch control. I have tried running the normal, full StabiliTrak/traction control mode but that doesn't work very well. If you light up the tires at all during launch it shuts down power and absolutely kills the 60' times. Best launch technique I've found so far is to hold the revs between 2 and 2.5k rpm's and quickly feather the clutch out but don't go full WOT in first gear. It will spool up and break traction and just spin. Tire pressure changes didn't make a significant difference for me and I suspect the stiff sidewalls in the Conti's won't show much improvement from dropping the pressure a lot.
This was all at California Speedway and traction absolutely sucked so if you have a really sticky track or figure out a way to run some sticker tires over the giant brakes you may find that something else works better for you.

your 60' is what is killing your time, which has been the case with most of the timeslip's I've seen here...
2 1/10ths of a 60' time will go a long way in overall e.t., that can be said for just about any car, especially a fwd one...

i used comp launch control one time it was gay...
no-lift shift is amazing tho
tire psi did nothing from 32psi to 18psi
side note these tires suck on the track my nitto extreme was waaay better
Thats how it's looking for me too. I either get bad 60's like 2.4's or so, or I get bad wheel hop. I really think the tires are a big part of the problem but, I also think that engine and transmission mounts will help us too. I did pull two 2.2 60's out of my butt though.
Bill Hahn is a racing expert and he can't get under a 2.1 60' on these street tires. These conti2's are for the cornering, handling, braking aspect. they're not good for straight line acceleration though.
you ss/tc guys are hilarious, POST TRACK TIMES IN THE DRAG SECTION!
Other than that, that's funny that you ran faster in your ss/sc. But you did have some healthy trap speed in the ss/tc.

Its not hard at all....The right tires, location, driver, and fuel matter. Ofcourse you run premium in these cars no matter what. Also I ran it without taking anything out of the car to reduce weight. I had a set of toyos on mine. I went out and bought a set of wheels and tires for the front just for track purposes.
