Torque to yield bolts
Torque to yield bolts
Getting ready to put a clutch in my car and I was wondering if anybody knew what bolts in the process (engine cradle, flywheel, etc.) are torque to yield and therefore need to be replaced and not re-used. Coming from the LS1 world I know the factory head bolts are torque to yield as well as the flywheel bolts.
Anybody have any information?

AFAIK, the flywheel bolts on the LNF are not torque to yield, although the head bolts are. Perhaps a GM tech/guru can chime in on this.
The flywheel has dowel pins to help prevent bolt shearing on the clutch. My aftermarket clutch and flywheel used larger diameter dowels than the stock one.

The service manual calls for 22 ft lbs on the pressure plate bolts, no additional turn. The flywheel bolts call for 39 ft lbs + 25 degrees. The book doesnt say to replace either flywheel or pressure plate bolts for R&R nor does it state they are or arent TTY.
I didn't have my flywheel off when I did my clutch, but the pressure plate bolts I reused. I did put some blue loctite (just a dab) on them, but thats a force of habit.
