Tranny problems!!!! (2008 w/39,000 miles)

I heard a whining coming from the Drivers side front of my car, I assumed it was prolly a wheel bearing, and just wanted confrimation from the dealer so i could fix it myself cuz im out of the 3 yr 36,000 bumper to bumper. took it to them and they called and asked if they could pull the tranny!!! WTF, i said yes cuz its covered under the powertrain warranty. said it might be some bearings in there going bad! anyone had this problem? i showed up there with all my mods on...they havent said anything yet lol but on a good note there going to charge me 50 bucks to resurface the flywheel and put in my new KY clutch since they have to pull the tranny anyways! well i tried to post this in the problems and service but it wouldent let me! sorry tell me what you think!

Only if he gets noise when depressing clutch pedal. I he gets it while idling in neutral (pedal out) , prolly tranny.

only When i was rolling in neutral or crusing in any gear, it never stopped unil the car did, thats why i thought it was the wheel bearing....

If it was ONLY when ROLLING it's not the tranny or clutch. Those will make noise at a standstill as well as rolling.

I'd suggest buying a different clutch if your above stock power level .. I know that's not the issue at hand but I just had my ky put in and it's no better than stock

my car makes that remote controll car noise when iam costing with the gas just slitly pressed. if u give it a little more gas or make the car start to accelerate it stops. its like a quit high pitched whine in every gear only when cruise / costing.

i always just figured there is some sort of harmonic sounding noise coming from it because the gears are spinning in the trany and there isnt any torque being applied to it. it instantly stops when u give it gas so it sounds logical.

on a side note my car started making a loud grinding noise when i start it sometimes after siting for a day. dosent always make it and no way to duplicate for the dealer. just random $hit that pisses me off? any ideas. is it because the motor isnt lubed with oil

Mine makes noise on any deceleration in gear. It's not a whine, though. It's sounds more like a dry-clutch noise on a Ducati motorcycle.

ive heard those dry clutches before my friend has a ducati and your trany shouldn't sound like that. the first time i heard that noise i was like WTF is that. sounds like valves knocking very hard. lot of clanking noise. pull the clutch in and it stops. i told him that was crazy cause i never heard such a noise like that.

this is one of the best fixes for all the cobalt problems we have. i just wish we didnt have to do this. but u cant always fix every noise. its not a lexus dont expect it to be quiet i guess. and if its not broke dont try to fix it.
