Yea, it is a nicer height for sure. If you guys want a different angle let me know.I took a couple shots but that one showed the best of how it is even with part of the lip that connects to the lower bumper valance. It really does sit quite high for an intercooler that large.

So, what kind did you order?

Dude.. can u not get over the fact that you are a complete loser? This is a different thread. dont drag other issues into this one. that would be the mature thing to do in your situation.

And i bought a precision intercooler. Friend had one he ordered for his SR swapped 240sx but only got to use it for a week cause of a bad tune and melted a hole in a piston. He went with a VH45 v8 instead so has no need for it at the time. I cant complain about the week of usage... picked it up for $50 and is almost the exact size as the tr10 treadstone

^ its cuz of the options available. If you saw 2500 bux for their complete kit you would not be interested. But since you gotta call anyways to get the whole thing dialed in, and they are running specials right now, it is easier to call and get it quoted from Jason. He is hooking people up right now I definitely rocommend looking into the kits.

Yeah, that height is just right. After re-reading things, I see he's sending one uncut elbow (coldside), and he wants me to cut it and get a measurement where the bottom of the IC sits at the same height as the bottom of the stock IC. But after that, I'll mount the IC high like yours. There is no way I'd trade away a little extra reliability for a little extra cooling!

Yeah that's a great height! I can see that to be safe, the leading corners of the end tanks have to be positioned so as to never be able to kiss the pavement, and it needs even more height if the new IC core is thicker than stock, or if the mounts push it more forward.

its just not long...I would think they'd make it longer to fit the whole bottome grill. although I know its a generic core.

It fills most of it. The other ones are bigger but hang a little lower. My IATs stay near ambient even after a few pulls. I was datalogging it alot a while ago and would do like 5 or 6 60-100mphs in the course of a minute. IATs never really got more than 5 or 6 above ambient air temps the whole time.

Seems the longer it is, the more vulnerable it is. The corners will touch first. Actually I don't give a rat's about the top being out of the direct airflow so long as there's enough exposure inside it to transfer the heat from the compressed charge to the metal, and enough metal to hold all the heat that's thrown at it.

well the top isnt a big deal because the inlet/outlet are at the bottom more air will be down there. I think its a good looking ic though. if it was longer they'd need new end tanks anyway because theirs dont curve. I mean the stock ic is 28" long while this is only 22. But I think the stock is so vulnerable because of that plate on the bottom, and if that gets hit its taking one or both of the end tanks out.

Yeah, to me ICs only come in 2 sizes: enough to do the job, and not enough to do the job. I think this one will do the job for my planned mods. The main thing is making sure it doesn't bash the street. Since I already bashed mine, it would be dogass stupid for me to replace my IC with another one that hangs almost as low. A couple of days ago I was even thinking of buying a water-to-air IC because they can be installed as out-of-the-way as I might want. I will probably fool with one some day just for fun.

I had the same idea! i think it would be sweet. You could actually rout it to look the same under the hood as it does now. Id like to see a vendor make a kit like this then do a side by side comparison with ZZp and the stock intercooler to see the IAT's variations.

Trust me, its enough to do the job. I drive my car pretty hard on a regular basis and this performs better than a stocker.

its bigger than the stocker, and the stocker is big enough as is. So ya I agree it should be a sufficient IC for the stock turbo... I'm waiting to see how this install goes

Honestly it is worth it to get the charge pipes as well. But if money is tight I can understand just getting a cooler. Taking baby steps will still get you to where you want to go eventually. And that is probably the safest way to go about things... trouble is I am not really a safe kind of guy... It's all or nothing for me.

get at LEAST the hot side charge pipes (one that goes over the engine). It will make it slightly less restrictive. I got the injen in black with upgraded couplers and tbolts. cheap and takes the most direct route very happy with it.

Me too 3k and going the turbo u/g route. I bought the Injen pipes too. They're a good value at $160-something, but for best bang for the buck, seems like nothing touches a turbo u/g.

^ that is true. im gunna try to see how much power i can squeeze out of the stocker on 91 octane with no metn or E85. im hoping for 330-340 with only a trifecta tune. hope vince pulls thru for me. lol.
