Trifecta Stealth tunes
Well nothing was actually achieved with HPT, it just so happens that it was undetectable when flashed back to stock. The main difference is that you have to do a write entire with HPT whereas you don't have to do anything with trifecta.
Its good news either way.

Well Vince has dug very deep into our ECM.
He is using the extra available space on the ECM to do some pretty cool things.
It's my understanding that GM has a reference number when they view a Cobalt. That reference number should match for a stock file or a GM stage file.
So Vince re-writes his tune to mimmick the correct GM tune reference number.
Therefore they plug it in at the dealership and they see that it matches a GM tune number and they move on.
Now if they went on a drive and noticed the massive power and increased redline they would fine it to be an aftermarket tune.
So someone please correct me.

I had forgotten to flash to stock. I think they were test driving it to understand what I took it in for and turned off cruise control, activating the tune. I got the car back with the cruise button off (tune on) and the RPD switched to the HP/torque screen. It was obvious that they had figured out something was up. It was discovered that the car was making extra power, but the tune wasn't detected even with them knowing something was up. Now my dealer and advisor are great and also okay with some mods as long as they don't cause the issue in question, and I also do other business with them as well, so I'm just saying, as your dealer may feel different about it.
This is one of the few times I would think the traction control button would be a better switch for the tune, as if they are using that then there's less chance for something like this happening as well as you could get them for ******* your car.
This actually happened to me while it was in the shop... the resulting call from them was hilarious. "Hi, you know that IC we helped you install like half a year back?... Yeah, somehow that's getting you 60HP or so... We'll have to get back to you."

My question is if you have the tune set to be active in comp mode and they scanned with the tech 2 while the car was in comp mode. Will this show the stock tune or the aftermarket tune?
So it always looks like the car has a GM tune.

And before you're quick to knock certain people (including me) maybe read some of my other posts elsewhere. In the ZZP thread I was stating that ZZP and TF are going to have a big one up on HPT and hopefully the guys at HPT get their **** together or they are going to miss out big time...

Nobody is saying one is better, way to read the thread. Just stating that HPT "CAN" be stealth as well!! The common knowledge around here is HPT voids warranty and TF is hidden, well we found that's not necc. the case anymore. Just trying to spread the truth
Know how many tunes Ive sold on this site?? Maybe 3. Im a real problem here....

^Not true. Just went thru this personally and not only did it pass the dealer's check...they sent the programming information to GM to approve the repairs and it passed there as well...
Are you kidding me? First off its not that annoying or big and every time you get in your car and its not raining or snowing your traction control should always be turned off. Having a tuned car and leaving traction control on = FAIL!
Make sure you have a good laptop also. I got a windows 7 HP with 6 gigs of memory and a state of the art graphics card. Its a breeze to data log or do OBD2 dianostics etc and load tunes with. And play COD MW 2

i will always hate hp and nothing will change my mind. aholes
