trifecta tune...
Usually the car will not run right at all if the ECM is bad. It will idle rough and sputter at part throttle. His car ran fine on the dyno ( I was there watching ) except the A/F was in the 10s. It ran smoothly otherwise just very little power because of the rich A/F. the Vince reflashed it to help with the rich A/F and it started misfiring sound like the tune to me, but sometimes when you reflash an ECM it can fry the computer and cause issues. That could be what he is experiencing.
k thats what i was thinking ... im gonna send vince some data logs with my stock tune then put the spare one in with the 1st tune he sent me and see if that works....if not thn im sendin da bitch off
Unless The DIC is flashing the message engine power reduced. Otherwise, an Evap canister problem should not cause reduced engine power.
Not to hijack the thread....but since we were just talking about ecu's...just out of curiosity...can anyone tell me why GM designed these cars with the ecu under the hood where it is exposed to all the elements. Did GM do this with all of their models because I just talked to a guy with an 05' malibu who said his shop said his ecm got shorted from driving heavy in heavy rain? When I first saw Bryans car I was like wtf because it seems like all the other manufacturers place their ecu's inside the interior of the car...at the time that didnt make any sense to me that GM would design their cars like that and it still doesnt.
My guess is that it keeps costs lower because the wiring harness to the engine can be shorter with the ECU under the hood.
Here's something really crazy: The new 6speed automatic transmission's controller (TCM) is *inside* the transmission. Again, costs are lower because the wiring between the TCM and all the control solenoids in the transmission (there are a lot of them in this transmission) are very short. Instead of running 40 wires from the transmission to the TCM, there's much fewer - power supply and CAN bus communications.
I wonder when they'll start putting ECUs inside the engines. Lol

i have trifecta tune with 3" side dump striaght pipe. i love it. but just a few mins ago i threw a code. the infamous "eng pwr reduced" fml. would not boost at all. the guy who tuned it for me said it was no big deal and he can fix it. yea well he cant fix it right now
. my bro has the same thing and the codes he threw came back and said he was miss firing. he definatly wasnt. im only holding 22psi so idk why this woulda happened? maybe they cant make a computer good enough for cobalts :P
yea after i wrote that my boy collin came over and checked for codes and then i went back to this and looked at vinces name lol. hes the one who tuned my car in the first place and i didnt know he was on this thread. but you havent had any problems at 24?
