Ditto!
I went to the track last night and spun like hell in 1st gear with 20PSI in the front tires.
But then again they were conti's....Need some drag radials
Either way, I'll end up getting the GM Stage 1 Kit to satisfy me for a while, then at about 50,000 miles when I'll probably have a different car I'll go with Hahn intake/chargepipe/BOV upgrade, Hahn Catless downpipe & catback, and a hahn turbo upgrade and have my brother HP Tune it.
I'll need a damn good clutch

so why are the new sensors that big of deal? here in a little bit when everyone will start doing their turbo upgrades the sensor will be aftermarket and cheap like always. why not just get Trifecta now for cheaper and when the time comes for the turbo upgrade buy the new sensor?

Well, the new sensors aren't a big deal. The stock sensors are rated to 28 PSI. But consider this, if GM simply reflashed the computer with a hot tune, and did NOT include the sensors, there would be nothing to stop anyone from simply copying their tune and selling it themselves. By requiring the sensors be hard wired in, GM insures EVERYONE comes to them. They sell the tune, the sensors and the labor to install/reflash. It makes perfect marketing sense.

Pretty soon, when HPT unlocks the entire OS it will be game on for Trifecta and HPT versus the GM stage kit. Still wish HPT would hire Vince to do the rest of the LNF unlocking.

Considering the position Vince gave up at Microsoft to pursue his own business, I can say 100% he wouldn't even consider a position working for HPT. But, stranger things have happened.

I tend to agree. Obviously he is on to something. Not gonna lie, i love his work. Just wish it was a bit more distributable. Like, if I could get Vince hacked/written program that would give me the power to tune like HPT does. I might be all over it.

I dont see how you can compare custom tunes from trif and htp to the GM stage 1. They are soooo different, your talking a custom tune to get the absolute most out of the car to a tune from the manf. that keeps things very safe. Now trif vs hpt is comparable, they are after a very similar market.

Even as Bill said, once they get the fueling tables unlocked...400whp and up should be pretty easy.

Better to get the stage kit plus a custom tune on top of that. 3 bar maps mean it is safer to run over 21 psi. Once you exceed 22.5 psi the stock maps peg and because the fueling is based off MAF, MAP, RPM, and load once you go beyond 22.5 psi the car is going to run lean unless you tweak the MAF tables so that the ECM adds more fuel. Tricking the maps to see 238 kPa (20psi) but actually running 24-30 psi is kinda dangerous. Unless you yourself are a tuner I would not recommend it. Lean plus high boost pressure will mean certain engine and turbo damage unless everthing is monitored properly.

When I started this thread I wasn't looking to compare performance of the tunes primarily... but weigh the pros and cons of each one to each other to see which one was better in the long run (all angles and motives taken into consideration)... I hope that all the posts have helped other people like me to choose. I ended up buying the GMS1 kit and after warranty is out I'll probably get an aftermarket tune (trifecta/hp/bsr/whatever)

I am having the same problem Cobalt Daddy... my dealership doesn't know anything about this Kit.... All they say is "I dunno". While I was on the phone with them I gave them the GM P/N: 19212670 (which was mentioned above - the 2 new MAP sensors) - and he said he doesn't know if that would work with my car (seeing that it's not listed on the compatibility specs. He gave me a GM P/N of 17801947 (fuel injectors) and said that it was the only upgrade kit that he could find listed for my 08 cobalt ss t/c.

I am wondering, Is the GMS1 kit both of these P/N's?

You have the right Part number in the 19212670. I ordered mine through CED and it was shipped the next day. The kit is just the number mentioned above. Here's a link

Hope this helps!
