Trifecta tune question?

Ok guys and gals,

I currently have gm stage 1, 3" catted dp, 3" catback, dejon hotside pipes, synapse intercooler and airbox mod. My question is, how much of a gain am I looking at if I go with the trifecta selectable tune? I plan on running 23-24psi. The reason I'm going trifecta is because I don't have a reputable tuner around me.

Thanks in advance

p.s there may be a thread on this but I'm too tired to search as I just got home from a long day at work.

Email Vince at Trifecta and list your mods. He was very prompt in getting back to me with some good info. Just go on to their website and get his email.

Hit up interviewatruins on here as he works a lot with Vince for tuning and can answer a ton of your questions

A catless dp, crappy cai, and trifecta tuned to 24psi yielded 317whp/367wtrq in my car. I would expact probably a few more ponnies than that with your setup. Seeing as how you have more supporting mods than I had at that point

I should be slightly more due to the stage 1 sensors.

stage 1 sensors will not give you more power with any tune really.. it only allows for a higher boost tuning ceiling for hptuners, however Vince does not need the 3bar maps for that.

I'd like to do the Trifecta tune, but I am extremely wanting to keep my warranty happy. And all of these fail threads from the tune are turning me off. Any insight into this?

The 24psi swithchable tunes seem to be ok,there are afew people who have had problems with HP tuners,GMS1,Trifecta,and even stock tune.Vince can make the tune undetectable to the dealer, and I believe some of the better HPtuner guys have been able to pass a GM inquiry into the ECU too.

Yeah if you want to keep your warranty then I wouldnt go with a Trifecta or HPT tune, your best bet would be to go with a GMS1 then you can keep your warranty and have no problems

They say it is undetectable.. does Vince guarantee the tune for that? Say if they do find it and there is a problem that they do voice the warrenty. Will Trifecta back you and finance the repair? IF, they could do that.. i would have 0 hesitations on getting the Trifecta tune. I'd advertise to no end on the company and capabilities and the claims that are made + the guarantee!

Kildore,
Or you could trust all the people that have the Trifecta tune and have taken there car in for warranty work and never been denied warranty work due to there Trifecta tune.

I'm pretty sure if Vince put a guarantee on his tune the price would go up a lot (probably more then a GMS1 tune), which would be justifiable since it puts down more whp/wtq then the gms1 without needing the 3 bar sensors and for me the current price is fine where it is.

Bottom line if your paranoid and afraid to pay to play, don't play.

That guarentee is a bit limited. You cannot 100% hide a non OEM tune from GM, but you can do it well enough that it doesn't raise an immediate red flag to just the dealer. The dealers tend to just look at the Calibration Verification Numbers (CVN Code) to see if they match the GM specified numbers on TIS2WEB for the VIN Number they enter. Generally if it matches, the dealer figures it to have a OEM tune and doesn't usually press the issue further. The hide a tune usually refers to making the dealership side scan return as legitimate.

However, it won't help you much if GM actually sends an engineer to the dealership for closer inspection. If an engineer looks at the tune on the PCM, they would see immediately that the fuel tables and other parameters are discrepant from what the tune should have. The likelyhood of them sending an engineer is rare and only in circumstances where the engine damage is above and beyond what would be occurring on a stock or GM Stage tune (Mainly if your tuner ***** up majorly and melts your pistons or something...)

Another thing it won't help against is GM finding other methods of checking the tune and issuing that procedure to dealerships... but for now, the CVN check is the only known dealer side check.

I had Hpt I just got the dealer kit and vinces 23 psi tune I am way more happy with trifecta then Hpt the car is crazy fast. If u have any questions as I did email vince tons of knowledge and experience he won't steer u wrong. And as for the warenty if u find a local trifecta dealer I'm sure they would have no problems flashing ur stock tune back in... when I had Hpt that's what i did and Chevy was none the wiser when I took my car in with the bad rocker that would be my suggestion find a local trifecta dealer just in case
