Trunk Lock Removal

Hello all,

Have a thread open in the general section but hoping to get a quicker answer here.

I am about to swap from a low rise trunk lid to a wingless trunk lid. I am having trouble getting the locks off. I unbolted the three bolts holding the assembly on and the assembly is now loose, but I cannot get the lock cylinder to budge. I have searched and tried pulling on the big grey tab, but it only moves up or down slightly and the cylinder does not budge. Any words of wisdom? I have found this pick on these forums:

Do I pull the tab away from the trunk, or up and down?

actually it comes out really easily. It's a shim that presses the lock against the trunk.

Grab the tab and pull straight down. Shouldn't be bending or anything.

Thanks for all the help!

Do I pull up like the red arrow, or back like the green arrow?

push the lock cylinder in ( from the outside of the trunk) while you're pullin on the tab if possible. it will tale some of the pressure off.

agreed, put your index finger around the tab sticking out and pull in the direction of the red arrow. It's very easy. I have more trouble putting it back in than anything.

So what you're saying is you can't have your girlfriend, your mom, or your sister in your car because it would scrape?
