"Turbo Flutter"

Hey guys. I have a question for you. I was driving my turbalt the other day in town after my 1hr, trip home and noticed that the car out of no where started to make the fluttering sound when i let of gas and pushed clutch in. Wem i got home i reved a couple of time in neutral to record sound then shut car off. I came back out later to look more into it but it would not do it and has run fine since. Why would this have happened out nof the blue and not again?was it a fluke or a pre-curser to a future problem? I have a KN drop in and no BOV with gm1. like i said the car has always performed A+. Your thoughts please

BPV could have just been stuck closed. Have you had it out for any reason lately?

Mine would do it at low boost or even when idle and reving. as soon as i pushed in clutch and let off gas it would flutter. Like i said it has not done it since.
I will try to see if i can figure out how to get a video on here for you to hear.
Oh by the way, I just had a clear bra put on the car. Well woth it!!

its actually air going back into the turbo. its not that good for your car. it can damage the blades of the turbo!

That's crazy never heard that before. Interested in the answer, I've heard the turbo flutter but that was cause I punched it let off punched it again and let off because of some douche in front of me. So I got the bov flutter but not like that

Angry

Well I just went to go to the parts store in the balt and it started doing the flutter again. Someone asked earlier about the boost while it was doing this and i thought it was normal but did not have the screen on "boost" so did not know for sure since i did not punch it. I looked this time and I was only at 5psi while it is in its fluttering stage. Guess I will make a call to the dealer tomorrow. I made some more recordings of the sound so they can hear it since the car prob. will not do it when facing the mechanic. Makes me mad since i realy have not moded the car much and am not very hard on it.

you need a BOV. that should fix the problem. Its air stuck inside the turbo, and it goes back in. heres it explained.

I see that explained and thank you, but they are saying is that it is just the sound NOT the fact that mine comes with the loss of PSI to under 5 PSI. and the fact that it does not do it all the time.. A BOV may solve the problem but the car did not come with one and ran great so why would it be required now after 8mo? I would like what is broken or not working right fixed.

That is worth a try but the car has had the KN in since NOv. and has had 10k= miles put on it. why would the filter cause this now. and the loss of 15 psi or so?

i believe he is suggesting to replace the stock boost bypass recirculator because it doesn't do a very good job relieving excess pressure after you left off the throttle. A blow off valve would simply vent the excess boost into atmosphere as oppose to recirculating it.

dunno, but it deff sounds like blow back and its not good for your turbo, looks like you get to invest in a BOV now

Sounds like you should get the Forge bypass valve, a BOV is not needed with the stock turbo, if you had an upgraded turbo than a BOV would be useful. The stock BPV is not very good.

What you are saying sounds right to me. I found this video and at the end he mentions something about a GMS problem and boost only getting to 5psi and major flutter.Thats me!!
I guess i will have the dealer fix the stock on and order me a Forge one and put it on later.
Here is the video i saw if anybody wants to see.
