300 to 400 hp is a wide range. you can get over 300 without a turbo upgrade. for a turbo upgrade, bald turbo freak has some choices ($830-2550), Synapse turbo has one (~$4000), and Hahn is coming out with some. Im getting bald turbo freaks compressor wheel upgrade, it is the one thats $830. On the dyno with tuning it put down ~320 whp. The turbo is stock appearing, therefore bolts right up. I have more supporting mods than the test car did so im hoping to get atleast 325 whp. Gotta bare minimum do something about the downpipe (HUGE restriction) and the charge/intercooler piping (plastic breaks/shatters). Being your in New York, Synapse turbo is in upstate new york, right outside Albany

technically you don't need exhaust if you get either hahns or i believe someone else has a down pipe with an electric cutout.... i am getting hahns tho incase for some reason i need to swich to a high flow cat it is cheap (hahns dp comes in 3 sections head, middle (straight pipe, electric cutout, high flow cat) and the end that hooks up to the rest of the exhaust and has an o2 sensor.... the also say it has no CEL

EDIT: also i think that if you don't have gm stage one you can't boost over 24lbs on....... any turbo?...... please correct me if i am mistaken

Thanks for the info widowedeight. I think hahn makes the max flow down pipe with cat con for cat'ed cars. also hahn looks to me to have a lot to offer in the future as far as turbo up grades but I am still researching all them wright now..

Does anyone know if gm has come out with the stage kit yet.

The stage kit for the Cobalt SS is not released at this time. It was released for the HHR, Solstice, and Sky, but the Cobalt gets no love yet. When is purely a guess. GM originally said towards the end of the first quarter 2009 (March), but now it looks like maybe it's been delayed even longer. Who knows?

If you are serious about a turbo upgrade, google BTF Racing Store and look at their GT30R complete kit for $2550.

Of course, with any turbo upgrade, you should also do the supporting mods too. Especially free flowing exhaust (downpipe and catback), intake, intercooler, and charge piping. None of that will do you any good unless you get a tune.

Drop her off @ NewEra performance parts. Mike will set you up with the Gt3076R kit, install, dynotune and exhaust for less than your budget.
