Turbo Upgrade...

I'm looking to upgrade my turbo in the very near future. There is alot of options out there, but I wanted to ask people here what they thought about the Turbonetics T3/T04E Hybrid Turbo. So, what about it?

Those are a bit old school, i'd look at the ball bearing garretts or borg warner extended tip turbo's, there's plenty of sizes from each camp to serve your needs.

I would go with zzp's LNF turbo upgrade, the standard kit comes with the Borg Warner s252 Extended Tip

Very nice turbo, very efficent, and makes great power all the way through

if you can find a t3/t4 super 50 in ball bearing you'll love it.

ya the upgraded k04 (pnp etc) just isnt cutting it for the price and issues with it, surge etc.

the zzp kit seems to be a good way to go

You talk about a turbo upgrade - but there is no mention of a clutch upgrade. Anything other than a KO4+ should probably do a clutch upgrade first... no point in packing on the power if your clutch can't handle it.

you'd have to ask aem for sure, but I know there was talk on the forum and people have them.

why replace the clutch before its not working? There have been plenty of people at 300+whp with stock clutchs.

LOL! Yeah, I'm going to do the ZZP Stage 4+ Clutch Upgrade at the same time as the turbo upgrade. I do believe that I'll go with the ZZ Performance LNF Turbo Upgrade kit. I've been very happy with everything that I've gotten from them so far, so this shouldn't be any different. Thanks, everyone.

Depending on the upgrade you can easily surpass the clutch... I am not necessarily talking about whp, but the corresponding torque... There have been a small few that make their stock clutch last, but the norm is clutch slip...

thats because there only upgrading half the turbo, you need a hotside wheel upgrade as well, a custom made k04 would probably be alot of fun

There might be some new bolt on turbo's coming out soon, they'll use either a gt2860 or gt2871 garrett chra with machined stock k04 comp/turbine covers. The company is just gauging interest on another forum.
