Twm Short Shifter Question
i have the twm short shifter in my balt ss/tc and i wanted to make the throws a bit shorter. i realize that in the manual it speaks of having about 3/8 of an inch of shifter adjustment cable showing. i noticed when i clip the cap back on when MORE cable is showing, like a 1/2 inch instead of 3/8 the throws are def shorter, but is that doing my tranny wrong , like are the cogs not fully engaged by having a shorter row, like its incomplete or something

As long as the gears engage properly (you know it's not if it pops out of gear lol) then you're ok. The shift cables still have to move "X" distance to be engaged/disengaged so it's irrelevant as to where you move the shifter adjustment as long as it goes into all gears correctly. The "shorter throw" is caused by using a shorter shift shaft and it can only be so short, the only way to "shorten" it further is to cut the shifter shaft shorter.

honestly from what im reading all the short throws for the tc arent that much shorter. its just a better quality piece. i here its just best to get the base bushings and thats it.

have the sts... and yes, the throws aren't that much shorter (except for 5th and reverse).... When I adjusted my cable I noticed that if I didn't give it the proper amount of space as listed in the instructions, it seemed as though my shifter would not hold reverse. It would just pop out of gear... I highly recommend sticking with the instructions, but if you do decide to change it you will be able to tell where your shifter will hold and where it won't...
