I bought a 09 cobalt ss turbo. It came with a viper 4704 remote starter and a idatalink module. The doors will lock/unlock, trunk opens but it wont start the car. The remote immediately says "remote start error". Any ideas? I checked most of the wires just not sure exactly where the 8 wires from the remote start connection block are supposed to hook up to.

 

Never had one but is it hooked up to the clutch pedal position sensor? Or did you have it in gear possibly? I don't think it will start it if the car is in gear

 

I have one but a diff model, may be able to help, did u put it into mts mode before u leave the car? before u open the door, with the car running u must, if ur pressing the brake, take foot off the brake, pull up e-brake, then press and release the brake, then push a button (lock or unlock) on ur viper remote. it will play a tune and show a little round arrow telling u command start is activated. exit the car and press the lock button. then it will work. its kinda sucky like this cause its on a manual car. and the only way to get around doing it this way is to bypass the clutch switch on the system, but then ur car would drive away if its in gear and u start it. here is the page with the manuals. read through it. it will tell u how to do a pitstop mode and turbo timer mode as well. I do believe that pitstop mode is the same thing except before u do all the steps u open the door. this will let u keep the car running and lock it when u exit if ur going into a store quickly and don't wanna stop ur car.
