waste gate flutter

Anyone else experience this? My car makes a fluttering sound under partial boost.. Not enough boost to even register on the RPD, but I can hear the turbo spool a little before it does it. According to some subaru forums I found using google search, this is normal. It's only bad if you hear it when you let off the throttle after building boost. My car makes a clean pshh sound with no flutter when I let off under boost. Any thoughts?

Your good. I have same issue. I changed out to Dejon spring and nothing changed (it sounds a tad more aggressive) and changed back.

try a heavier spring to hold the gate closed. COMPRESSOR SURGE. forcing air back into the turbo the wrong way. good ear though for hearing it under light boost

I've heard people with K&N's talking about this in the past ..... but I thought it was the bypass valve that was the cause , not the wastegate. If your sure the wastegate is doing this I would check the actuating rod and make sure the locking nuts haven't backed off . When I did the vacuum tank delete it could hear it with the stock air box .... after i put the vacuum tank back in the system it went away.

I have this too when I rev my car up an keep the boost gauge in vacuum. When I let off it makes the flutter noise.

Subd for a fix.
