I was driving to work today and experience some really odd problems with my car. I was accelerating from a red light and almost stalled which seemed really wierd because I've never stalled my car on acceleration. But I thought nothing of it. About a mile down the road I'm coasting in 4th and my rpms start fluttering up and down. And the car feelins like it's rocking back and forth. Almost like light engine braking. I shift into neutral and coast to the next light and the rpms are still fluttering but so low that the engine feels like it's just gonna complete die out. Almost like it's about to run out of has. (I have a 1/4 tank). So I shut the car off and restart it and it appears to run fine. I'm just worries that it could be my clutch or something expensive since it seems engine related... Any ideas?

 

sounds like a sensor.

have an aftermarket oiled filter on the car? Did you foul your MAF?

On my old car, I had similar problems to this and it happened to be the TPS (throttle positioning sensor)

I havent heard it happen to one of these cars yet but there is always a first.

 

complicated ecu freaking out... i've had some weird ish happen like the car randomly bucking like it turned off and on at 700miles but here i am 17k miles in and never had it happen again... sometimes computers have brainfarts too...

 

I recently did an oil change and re installed a stock oil filter. I also re installed my trifecta tune a couple days ago. However because of a recent cold spell I was running the car in stock mode anyways.
