what is the wrx mod?
what is the wrx mod?
is it the issue of a cylinder going down? if so why? because my car now sounds like it but the power is still the same. from idle to a snappy rev it sounds like it has a miss but has full power? its been one thing after another with this car
Ya the subie sound is no good! I would go rent a compression tester from autozone. If the numbers are all the same then your fine, but there is a problem somewhere. If your numbers are like 60 60 45 60, then your 45 cylinder needs new piston rings.
i do not doubt this one bit....my buddy drove it last night and jammed 2nd from 3rd.....(smacks face) its the last time someone else will drive my car and actually was the first other then my mom
OP if you're not getting any smoke and the car runs fine. check your oil, make sure its not milky or contaminated with coolant. and take off the valvecover. when you say your friend "jammed 2nd from 3rd", he over revved it. and theres atleast one rocker arm that's fallen off.
if you didn't bust a lifter, you can put it back in with a hefty flat head screw driver and a good amount of force, but you'll need another set of hands as well.
it'll look like this

if you did bust a lifter, you'll need to make sure you get out every last little piece of metal you can see. get one of those magnetic pick up tools and get in every little place. then drain and change the oil and filter. replacing the lifter is easy. if the cam lobe is in the way you can crank it and turn the cam and then with that magnetic pick up or needle nose pliers just pull the lifter out. i thiiiiiink you can order them individually from gm, by zzp sells them in sets of 16.

Or instead of going crazy assuming the worse (which of course is still always a possability), you can test your bank1 sensor 1 o2 and make sure it's still in good shape. A bad wideband will cause random misfire and maf skew which as a result can cause the dreaded scooby sound. While your under there check your plugs as well just for cheap insurance.
It's pretty common to eat through o2 sensors when tuned on the stock turbo due to high egt's.

if they're down below 100. you'll need all new rings hahaha.

I know man it's a tough lesson. I mean this dude has neve owned an automatic in his life I thought hey surely I can trust him but no we almost go through the windshield due to epic fail. You shouldA seen my face it screamed man ur gonna pay to have this **** fixed
What i did is just loosen all the bolts for the caps that hold the cams in place, dont remove them , just loosen them equaly until you can put the rocker back in (you will still need to use something to help putting them in place... you will figure out what i mean). Then retight the bolt to the spec. I dont remember exactly, something like 87lbs.. im sure someone will give you the exact number.
If you have broken lash adjusters, you will see them
Heres a pic where the rocker is missing, but the lash adjuster is still there(the bolts im talking about, those you need to loosen, you can see one in top right of this pic):

I still have a few brand new lash adjusters if you need any just PM me.
To remove the valve cover you will need to remove the braided line that go from the valve cover to the turbo, remove it from the turbo, its one bolt, then you can use your finger tip inside of the turbo intlet to help you getting the braided line out... its pretty snug in there.
Other than that its just removing all the parts in the way.

you don't need to loosen anything holding the cram down. just turn the key as if to turn the car over and it'll rotate the cam. have someone tell you to stop it when the longer part of the lobe is up.
then with a big flat head screw driver, push down on the spring and have someone else push the rocker arm in. it takes some force, but its doable in a few trys.
