If the whistle noise you hear sounds like my car then its a boost leak.

Yep. Made 194whp 208wtq with just an intake and a boost leak. All of them have boost leaks.

It's not a boost leak. All Cobalts do it. Unless there is a factory boost leak... Different car. Could make the same sound for a different reason.

Dont really understand it either, Like I said, after replacing the intake mani, and injector seals. Mine stopped. So, it could of been a number of things, I have my theories of course. I will let every one know if i can get it to go away after doing dome fueling mods soon. Ive yet to take anything off my stock LDK

This is actually a very good representation of the noise. unfortunately , if its not found in your boost tubing , Its going to be very hard to track down. My tubes are perfectly fine after pressure testing them so it must reside somewhere in the manifold.

As long as your car is correcting for fueling and keeping your fuel trims close to 0.0 +/- 5.0, and your peak boost is where it should be, then your fine. worse that could happen is the turbo is working just alittle bit harder than it needs to. no big deal. Ive see dummies with large openings flooring it trying to figure out why they dont generate boost, meanwhile there turbo is losing its **** lol. normally the check engine light will take care of that but it its been deleted/disabled....

Mine does this exact noise. of note, I didn't hear it until after I installed my k&N SRI recently. all connections have been double checked. I was thinking it was normal just now audible with the SRI?

That is weird. Maybe you weren't making optimal power with the old turbo? The whistle only comes higher up in the RPM. It grew louder going from GMS1 to Trifecta.

You think it could be a cracked turbo or something? Or bad install and it's leaking unfiltered air?

To me, mine sounds like a normal turbo. I am confident and will keep rocking that sweet sound.

Check out this vid. It's neat all the cool sounds the car makes up front.

All the sounds in that video sound normal to me. Awesome vid BTW. Must have been a lot of humbled drivers there that day after they had to let a Cobalt past. Some of those guys have horrible driving lines though -- I've never driven Laguna Seca in real life, but I have a really good idea of the best line from all the times I've driven it in video games.

I was running GMS1 and had the exact same noise. Making 20psi was almost impossible. I tightened the coupling going to the TB and re-oriented the GMS1 boost sensor on the lower charge pipe so it would not contact anything. Sound went away after that and I could feel that the car had more power and was more responsive. You can hear the "before" in the vid. I have a K&N SRI btw, that's where you hear the blow off from.
