wiring Gauge??

wiring Gauge??

just an oil pressure gauge and want to hook it up to the dimmer switch?? i dont wanna short anything out thats why im asking to be safe, but which wire is for the power. that way i can also dim my gauges and i know for ground there is metal under the steering wheel.

There's no current draw to speak of from a gauge. 18 should be fine.

i have the mechanical one where u see the oil through the lil tube i wanna connect it for the light bulb to light up the gauge

dude, why would u get a mechanical one? its not a good idea to have an oil pressure tube in the cabin, thats asking for a mess. or fire. thats why in alot of race cars they are mounted on the hood.

But to answer ur question, get a multimeter and test the wires to ur stock boost gauge. all u gotta do is test each wire, turning the lights of the car on and off, the right one will get power when the lights are turned on and will loose power with the lights off. to be sure, turn the dimmer and the current should rise and fall from about 4v when dimmest to about 12v when brightest

I know the where abouts of a gauge like that but I wrapped it to be more secure.. And I don't really run my car like a race car.. But I get wat ur saying..

According to my Haynes manual, the dimmer switch is hot at all times from the BCM via interior light fuse #27. The dimmer "signal wire" is dark green, and the "low ref" is purple.

thanks this helps alot.

and one more question i tested it out and the pressure drops to like 20psi when hot and when im accelerating it only hits 50 and goes back down.. did i connect it in the wrong place??
i have it on the drivers side up top on the in the head?

So then i would connect the positive from the gauge to the dark green??
