Woo! Installed my DP today!

Took entirely too long; I got every damned bolt off, even the impossible top left one on the head section of the DP...and then got stalled out by the top bolt on the cat-back.

Couldn't get any leverage (was using jack stands, no lift available), put penetrating oil, everything. Finally, went to Autozone and bought a breaker bar (which ended up not helping, but it's handy anyway), a set of wobble adapters (those helped), and a deep 15mm socket (also helped).

The real thing that let me break the nut loose? Piece of wood wedged between the underbody and the second cat, so it couldn't rotate when I was cranking on it. Doh. I probably didn't need ANY of the tools I bought, but whatevs.

Anyway, install was cake once that bolt came loose, even using jack stands.

Installed a Hahn MODpipe DP head, straight pipe mid-section (bought the hiflo cat, but that's for just in case), and the catback section, all hooked up with v-band clamps.

Exhaust is stock, but the sound is drastically different - love it!

Update: spent last night installing the Hahn FMIC and charge pipes! [edit] Forgot to mention, all the pipes are color-matched to the car - sport red tintcoat!

If I had any idea how much of a project that was gonna be, I think I would have just paid to have it done. ****.

Also, the charge piping how-to, where it says long end of the one pipe piece goes to the IC...yeah, that was bullshit. I must have lost a couple hours trying to make that fit. Finally took that whole thing out, switched that piece around, and it fit like cake.

All in all, a good learning experience (I am no gearhead by any stretch, but with the right tools and decent instructions, I am capable), but if I never have to do that again, it'd be just fine.

Last part to do is the CAI, but that won't happen without a tune waiting, since it'll FUBAR my trims. ALso thinking about getting an interceptor or two installed beforehand, so I can watch the important stuff (yeah whatever, I just want the pretty lights).

The thought of doing cams, valve springs, sleeves, pistons, etc. makes me cringe now. Ugh.

Just replaced my exhaust last week. You could have gotten more clearance by removing the hangers holding the rest of the exhaust up and let it drop onto the twisting beam.

...

I didn't do anything with my exhaust, it's still stock and has no problems.

I was talking about charge piping and an intercooler...

Hes talking about the bolt you had a hard time getting off that connects your dp -catback.

Intercooler chargepipes and downpipe should be a breeze for installation. I think your taking these easy mods a little too much in depth lol. Straight bolt in brotha.

If you had trouble with these I wouldn't recommend doing valve springs/retainers etc..

*shrug*

Some people have been playing cars all their lives. I'm not one of them, so it's all new to me.

(didn't help that it was hot and humid as hell the day I decide to get under my car.)

The install of the piping was reasonably easy, it was the taking off (and putting back on) of the front fascia that sucked ass. The new IC was making everything fit retarded.

Yeah, I meant the DP. I also had a hard time with my Hahn charge pipes. I had removed my IC at the same time and it seemed like the short length up was the right way to do it before re-installing the IC. After installing correctly then it was hitting the hood! I had to adjust the elbow coupler to get clearance. Looking back now I should have gotten the Injen charge pipe.

Yeah, the How-To here on the site said the long part couples to the IC. I tried for like an hour or two to make that fit. I finally got pissed, unclamped everything I had already gotten into position, pulled it all out and started over, short end to the IC. Had it fitting in less than 20 minutes. Doh.

I know Hahn makes good stuff, I have a ton of their parts myself, but you would think they could have at least included a single page exploded view diagram or something which would show how it goes together. That one pipe is really the only problematic part but that's all it takes to cause headaches and give something a bad rep.
