Zeitronix Ethanol Sensor

Hey guys. We just bought this for the car I'm doing work on and tuning (Zeitronix ECA : SEMA Award Winning Ethanol Content Analyzer and Flex Fuel Sensor for E-85 and E-85/gasoline Blends)

Where should I tap in to the fuel lines (in series) to add this sensor/gauge combo? I know direct injection cars put out high fuel pressure so I'm not sure where exactly I should tap in. Thanks for the help!

Their website says the typical spot is the return line. On ours it has to before the hpfp, but has anyone else tried this before?

How are you tuning for it?

Thanks for the responses guys! I run this on my STi and it's great to be able to see exactly what the percentage is.

I just wasn't too sure where on the LNF it needed to go, I think I know now. I will post pictures once I'm done installing it. Hopefully today.

No tuning needed. It's just inline with the fuel system. I have a separate gauge to monitor the content %

Oh I see, you aren't using it to tune around your blend, just monitor.

I've already tuned E47. I need to make sure the gas station I fill up at has a consistent blend. E47 can turn into E55+ if they bring in E92 like they did last month

So yes, it's basically just to monitor.

13577394,13577394 - Fuel Composition (Flex Fuel) Sensor (E85)
13352241,13352241 - Fuel Composition Sensor Harness

Anyone else looking to play with this can get the Conti sensor elsewhere for cheaper.

Still need a data sheet to get the pin-outs if you wanted to just try wiring it to power & analog voltage displays.

We use the same setup. It works great, especially when you set it up to log in your hp tuners scans.

Awesome Matt, that's cool. We thought that it would help a lot with his build seeing that E47 (fuel limited LNF) is as high as he can run. Good to know the exact mixture.

I dont want to sound like a downer or anything, and thats really kool, But here is my problem with where you put it, if your driving and you hit a bump or somthing and fuel leaking and goes towards the turbo your going to be alittle screwd IMO

Thanks, I appreciate the concern. However, this isn't coming off. This is on way too well/tight.

Made some good power on the dyno today with the efr! 25.5psi and 23* timing up top. Look at that curve!

That's beautiful, looks identical to my graph. Is this on e47?? Who's your tuner too?

We do something similar with the 1.4T market. I'm not sure if HPT supports it or if the LNF ECM even supports it, but with Trifecta we are able to run a wire from the sensor to one of the unused pins on the ECM and have the ECM monitor ethanol content and adjust your tune on the fly in real time. I believe EFILive can do this also on certain ECMs. If you guys are interested I'll talk to TF and see if this is possible on this ECM and maybe we can work out a layer tune or something so you can still tune it yourselves using HPT.

Absolutely! The more tune-ability the better. With Ethanol being a good choice now days an option like this would change the way tuners have to tune for specific blends.

On the software side of it I don't think it would be hard to do seeing that it's a linear change on the output of the sensor. However if blocks on the ECU are not available then it may be a big hurdle, especially in realtime.

Would the gains be better with full E or no?
Also what was the total install time for you?

Yes especially over 91oct. I will say I haven't seen E70 knock (in my STi). You can reach mbt with E70, so E85 isn't totally necessary. E47 you may be able to hit mbt, didnt try on my last dyno session.

Total install for the under-hood portion was 5min. Wiring took me 10ish min.
