Run a vac line from the intake mani. directly to the BPV and let me know if the noise goes away. Just bypass everything for a quick pull down the road. We can figure it out from there.

You're running a Forge BPV, aren't you? That's what a Forge sounds like when it's sticking.

Oh, the other time I get that sound is my first two ***** in the morning, before the turbo housing has heated up to operating temp. The piston in the forge floats or something. Anyway, that's clearly the forge. You can test it if you still have your stock BPV.

Question

For those people with the ZFR: What hot side charge pipe are you using?

ZZP sells a hotside pipe that works, but it uses the stock rubbery couplers, which I'm not sure I'm comfortable with when you start turning up boost. Injen sells a hotside that may work with the 5" long, 2" diameter coupler you can buy with the ZFR.

The problem I face is that I've got 2.5" pipes, and neither the bend coupler for use with ZZP's pipe, nor the 2" diameter coupler they offer will work.

Ideas?

Stock rubber couplers are fine....I've ran them to 25-27psi without any issues. Look at vibrant 4 ply couplers

I guess that's what I'm saying... You can't use vibrant couplers with the stock rubber tubing, because the tubing is the coupler.

The ZZP hotside pipe appears to be an incomplete pipe on its own, utilizing the rubber tube ends from your stock hotside pipe to complete it. Those rubber tubes inflate and expand like balloons. We went to hardpipes for a reason. It seems like it just opens yourself up for more liability of popping the tubing or getting a tear in one and then you're SOL. I'm not interested in doing a roadtrip or something and having a boost leak I can't fix. :/

Did ZZP use that rubber tubing on their high boost applications? It appears to be 2 ply.

Every time I get on it and let off the gas WOT the turbo flutters, or so it sounds like it, on the oem turbo I got a single psssss noise when I shift WOT now I get a fluttering noise, kind of like a sequential BOV.

Is this normal since the car isn't fully tuned yet ? Do I have a sticky BPV or you think the vacuum line is bad or what ?

The Fluttering sounds like this except it happens at WOT shifts and I am pretty sure its not compressor surge lol

part throttle shifts it does it for me..not really to much on low throttle shifts. WOT it doesnt really do it.

It's the BPV obviously. May be no big deal though. Has anyone tried to hook it directly to the IM vs hooking it up through that solenoid that the stock one runs off of?
I did straight to mani...still did it. Stock BPV. Did it. Forge BPV yellow and green spring. Still does it. I now accept it. Im tuned to 25 psi.

i just installed my zfr today and on my way home playing with the boost a little i hear a funny noise

at part throttle from 1-5 psi i hear like a high pitch wistle kinda like a dog whistle

i get on it harder i cant hear it any more

only makes the noise under boost no cel drives perfect pulls supper hard

i dont kno if its a boost leak as i havent tested it yet but wondering if it was

possibly the bpv partially opening at part throttle or if mayb its coming from that nipple on the waste gate solenoid that isnt hooked up to anything other than that i dont under stand how i could have a boost leaks as there isnt much that hooks up the this turbo

or mayb its how it sound from the air rushing threw the pipes at low pressure i dont kno just thought id see what u guys think

Most turbos sound like that when the car is in vacuum or low boost. Even the stocker has an undertone when cruising. I'd imagine that plus the fact that you've got a bigger turbo now means more of a noticeable sound.

i perfomed the boost leak leak test this morning

and of course its leaking from something i didnt touch

its leaking from the inlet sensor where it mounts to the lower intercooler pipe to the intake manifold

does any one offer a aftermarket gasket for this sensor

only way i can find the gasket is to order the whole sensor
