you want to trap in the 1/4 tached out in 4th... stock gearing BLOWS in these cars... a 2.60ish 1st gear and a .5 6th with the 4.45 would make it an awesome transmission... you'd have good gear splits and not have to worry about epic wheel spin in 1st or being at the awkward ricer point in parkinglots where you're turning 1000rpm in 2nd or VTAK in 1st just going up the isle...

cmiller do you think you'll get a chance to hit a track before everything closes? we've got some tracks that stay open year round down here nothing like some 30* air and a pile of VHT to set some records

I'm glad I don't live near ZZP. I'd be broke.

Went up to AutoX Test N Tune yesterday After a few cone knockin runs I got to within 2 seconds of the fastest cars . A couple of Lotus sports cars and a highly modified C4 vette. We got a bunch of runs in and the weather was perfect. The 4.45 Trans is the ass for Autox. I think a good driver could of easily gotten the fastest time with my ride.

Mongorat, leave the cones alone. I could hear you hitting them as you went buy.
Remember, cones are not your friend.

Fun to watch your runs, now get on the gas!

Does anyone has the ZZP stage 1 trans? I am torn between the S1 and S2 come spring.
I don't do any 1/4 mile or auto x, it is mainly street driven so do I need the S2? I am already spinning big time and with the added shorter 4.45, it would just like driving in the rain all the time. I am leaning towards S1 for the fact that it rev a little lower in the rpm for those long road trips.
Is the S1 just as strong as the S2?

Depends on the power you guys are looking to make. Stage one will be ok for awhile but you need the 4.45 for big power to hold up.

I think there is a stage 2 with 4.05 stock ratio available. Why not use that?

I thought stage 1 was 4.05 and stage 2 was 4.45. Dont think you have the option to pick a stage 2 with 4.05.

I must say i love my gearing on the 4.45.

I was wondering the same thing when looking at their site. If the only difference is Stage 1 is 4.05's and Stage 2 is 4.45's. Then why are there 3 options? ZZP needs to clarify this please!

4.05 isn't a stock ratio for the Cobalt SS/TC anyways, it is for the HHR SS and Cobalt SS/SS.

If I remember right stock for the Cobalt SS/TC is 3.82?

shorter final driver makes for a stronger transmission marginally. there is no magic to this. just hard work, effort, care, and money

Bump for an answer. Is ZZPs stage two transmission offered in two final drives like it says on the ZZP website. It offers stage two in 4.05 and 4.45.

Well I'm not in the market right now . I was just trying to get an answer for people who might be. But what do I care if there is confusion about a product I'm not buying or selling. How hard is it for zzp to post in a thread directly related to their product .

Is the ONLY difference the gear ratio? I'm curious as to why anyone would want anything less than the 4.45...

Probably for MPG's, but I suppose if you are building big power why do you really care? And I am curious what would be the RPM's at 80?
