This is quite possibly the strangest post I've ever come across... very twilight zone-ish. I too want the Z54, I'm getting tuned by Kevin, I am closing on a house in a week, and my wife wants furniture and other stuff! I literally can't buy anything expensive right now as per my mortgage broker since it'll affect my credit, but once we close and that Z54 is back in stock... clicking that 'check out' button. She did get me a 'what happens in the garage stays in the garage' plaque that I'll need to hang somewhere, what a gal.
I'd never need a new turbo if I didn't get that damned K04r that blew up on me out of nowhere. Neat bit of info: ZZP warranty's their turbo's same as they do their other parts, with a 2 year warranty so that's a no brainer. Very eager to hear how the driving experience is. I'm used to small time turbos that spool quick and get that torquey get-up-and-go feeling. Did the Z54 will take getting used to??

I was lucky enough to get my hands on one. Ordered on Sunday but hasn't shipped yet. Was in the middle of getting tuned by Kevin, this puts the kabosh on that lol.. Hopefully gonna shoot for this and an e47 tune.

FYI when you purchase a pcm from ZZP for the Z54 they tune it just like it is a 6758 or what ever the hell that number is. Just letting you know what I was told by Ryan at ZZP.

fast forwarding... my block cracked at 120k awhile back on the LNF... so ZZP put a regal block in... car now sits at almost 150k, clutch hasn't engaged right, so I thought WTF why not get engagement fixed and go for a nice increase. Steve told me 75+ hp depending on modifications.. granted my cobalt turned into a summer car like my blown fiero
I'm not looking at much for mods on car when they did the regal block, upped my injectors, stage 4 clutch and their tune
I've been talking with steve... only 20 miles from there so this coming Thursday they are slapping the Z54 turbo on. I told him I wanted more power as a cam and the stock turbo limit full range. As my other car is down for paint and under going a turbo from a supercharger
One of my lady friends with a challenger sxt 2016 is laughing cause I want to race. I told her before ran a solid 13.0@110 before my LNF block died... maybe I should record that run in with her :P I told her I'd spank her now if my clutch shifted right, but it's the 2.0 vs 5.7 mentality in a freaking boat.
I'm guessing ZZP will have it up and tuned within a week. I'm curious if any other people have this done.
Again I'll go video crazy so install date for me 7/19.. but I'd like to know what I'm getting into power band wise.

Test drove home last night... did a few 3rd gear pulls... I was expecting the pshhhh sound now more like.a owl sound lol. No exhaust work done... it made 344 whp and 333 wtq. So figure a guess of 17% loss puts it at 402 hp and 389 tq...
as mentioned before takes a touch longer to spool but once it does hang on! I got a rolling 3rd gear video... I'll try to get more and get my gopro out that way not holding phone and trying to drive

So got the Z54 installed and tuning has begun with Kevin. One thing I noticed is I get a lot of bypass valve flutter at low load, low boost. I've tried running the bypass valve straight to the manifold, vacuum tank delete, and stock configuration and it won't go away. Any ideas?

I've kind of been nursing it a bit since I heard that sound (aside from tuning runs). Now that I know it's normal, I won't have so many reservations about getting on it. Anyone got any flow numbers from logs? I've seen 41 lbs/min at about 26psi so far. Up to 18 degrees of timing (and rising) on the e47 tune, with my fastest 60-100 run being 4.38 seconds or so.
