Im looking for everyone that has had problems with their cats. Im going to fit this crap with GM. I also need to know the people that have had their warranties voided because of their cats. Please just give your screen names and your mods that you had on the car when you had problems. You can also list the dealership and what they said to you when you went to them. Thank you for your help, Im hoping that we can get something done with this.

Cat went bad at like 10,000 miles. Took it in to Holiday Chevrolet in Farmington, they insistetd it was fine, re-flashed the ECU and gave it back to me. I took it maybe 15 miles from the dealership and BAM a HUGE blast of white smoke came flying out of the exhaust. "Well, there went whatever remained of my cat" i said. Ripped back to the dealer, threw my keys at the service manager and picked my loaner back up. Got a call 2 days later saying that since the cat was completely empty that it MUST'VE been hollowed out by me for performance, and they were going to have to make me pay for it.

I blew up at this and yelled at every manager I could find that day. I told them hollowing your cat is ridiculous in the first place, and why would I do it, then bring it in and tell them about it? They insisted it's IMPOSSIBLE for a car to empty its' whole cat by itself, that it just can't happen. Since the 2nd O2 sensor also went bad at the same time I asked them if couldn't it had been from the honeycomb flying out the back of my exhaust? Nah, they said. Finally after 2 more days of arguing, me refusing to pay for the repairs, 3 calls to GM. They spoke to a GM engineer who said it was possible and these cars had been known to do it. Fixed under warranty. My car is BONE stock BTW. Last time I ever went back to that dealer.

27,000 miles and my cat is still good as can be .

Also , your warranty cannot be voided because of your cat . If you physically altered the emissions in some way , there would be issues with that specific part of your warranty ....but certainly not for just a cat going bad and your entire warranty canot be voided . There are service bulitens for the converters on these cars on all models . A friend of mine is a Saturn tech and has done several on the 2.2 Ions's . You guys that are having problems with your shady dealers need to be reporting them to GM as opposed to going on the offesive with GM itself . Car manufacturers are bound to healty emissions system even past your normal warranty period .
