06 SS/SC RPM Hang & Coolant Temp Gauge Issue

Hi Guys,

I noticed my car RPM's were hanging around 2K between shifts the other day, and then seemed to go away. Today, it started doing it again, and I just happened to pull up the coolant temp gauge, as this was occurring. To my surprise, it was reporting 60 degree coolant temp! ( the car had been running over an hour) Few moments later, the temp gauge read 180 degrees, and instantly the RPM hang was gone. I also noticed the car was hard to re-start, after it had been running for some time. ( while temp gauge was acting funny)

Any ideas whats going on? Bad temp sensor? Thermostat issue?
