07 problem
i have a zzp canned tune in my car
modds:
2.8 pulley
42lb injectors
injen cold air intake
gm honed out manifold
zzp dp w/ high flow cat
custom 2.5 exhaust
torque dampner
ok the question is i been having a problem when i hit 3-4k rpms my exhausts starts pinging i have changed all the parts atleast twice
i replaced all the gasketsthere is no leaks
and cant figure out where the noise is comming from
can it be from a bad tune causing it to ping
i just bought hptuners and will post the tune at a later date
any info will help

wtf is ping? either that is sarcasm or you're being serious...
pinging = knocking = detonation. pinging is just the name for a very light knocking sound, sounds like 'ping ping'. onimonipia ftw.
could be a lean tune. ya can monitor afr, what's it at?

if it is exhaust popping, then perhaps the tune is a bit lean, causing poor combustion and having the unburnt fuel head into the exhaust where it autoignites and pops. or, there is an exhaust leak causing excess fresh air to mix with unburnt fuel before somewhere in the exhaust system. either a leak, or a bad tune.
pinging is an old term used for knocking, the sensor to check for detonation is a knock sensor, so most people refer to it as knocking which is due to detonation. light knocking sounds like metal lightly banging or 'pinging' it's not a technical term lol.
engine pinging is one thing... exhaust popping is another. the op said exhaust ping, then said ping again later on, so i assumed he meant the engine is pinging a bit. eco you were propably right in assuming he has an exhaust issue, rather than myself who assumed he has engine pinging. pinging is the sound of detonation... only in his case, there's no pinging in the engine but in the exhaust. both of us were 1/2 right, add em up and together we're right heh.
