Thumbs down '07 Shorty Antenna

So I was in the market for a shorty antenna for my '07 SS/SC. I was just browsing around the vendor sites, and came accross one from TNT Autosport. I sent them a message asking about it because I know that the '07 antennas are different from the '06's. He told me that it would fit because of the attachments that come with it. I just recieved it today, and tried to put it on. Didn't work. It came with a little black piece that ALMOST fits. Is there any way I can extend it a little for it to fit? I'd really like to get this on. Could I drill it out or anything? Not the actual shorty, but the extension. I dont see any harm in doing so, but I figured I'd ask the pro's. Suggestions? And yes, I searched around and didn't find anything for "this damn antenna wont fit, damnit".

Why buy a shorty antenna when you can make one? That is what I did. Sawzaw. I don't have any close up pics but these should do. If I remember correctly I cut it to 13", the same length as buying a shorty. Works perfect, I have sirius so I don't need a good one anyhow, I actually removed it and it still worked.

I measured the length I wanted and cut it. I then removed the little ball on the top of the part I cut off, it was a bitch and a half to get off. It flew across the floor and took me for ever to find it. The shaft gets thicker the further down you go so i grounded down a little at the top so the ball fit back on and used some black touch up paint where I ground it down. You can't even tell I did that if you get up close. I think it looks 100% better.

I had my dad work on the Stupid antenna for me as I have an 07 and i guess the damn thing dosn't fit after 06. So what he did was Drill into the antenna with some tapping bit, and threaded the thread for one of the extra fittings that came with it. He told me U could probably get the bit at Home Depot, but he's in a shop all day so he had all the tools he needed to start with. I donno if that'll help ya but thats pretty much what he told me. lol

Good luck man

for those who do not want to have to drill one,

Antenna X is the way to go!

They've been very professionnal, the antenna is nice, shipping was quick too!

They recommended me the (sku #AX-15) because for the 2007 we need a 7mm adapter (just ask for it in the paypal comment section) and it doesn't show with that antenna, so it's better than the rubber one.

It's a 14" stainless steel antenna, available in black or chrome.

Altho buying a shorty antenna is rather inexpensive it only takes 5 mins to cut the stock antenna and be done with it. Put a Jack in a Box ball on it and be done with it or put the stock ball back on it.

antennax.com.. or they sell them on eBay - just make sure you buy the BILLET and not the eurostyle. The eurostyle is really stubby and rubbery and looks like garbage.

I've had the 14" (they have other heights) on my 2.4 for about 3 months now and it works great. Oh, and if you tell them it's an 07, they will send an adapter for 7mm to 6mm, adds about 1/4 inch to the length of the antenna, but wtf ever.

I just took mine off completely and put a rubber nipple over it. I have XM, don't use the FM much anyways...

Oh yeah, sorry to hear about your misfortune. PM TCarter and ask him to make things right...
