One big thing that bothers me about interviews like that one is how the builder refers to the car as a "street car". That car is NOT street legal. It's an awesome quality build of a drag racing car, and they mainted the LOOK of a stock street car, but it is just plain not.

I thought the same thing! but.....

"5. What is done to the motor?

The motor is a turbo charged 2.0 liter based off of the 1000 horsepower build in the GM "build book" found on www.GMTUNERSOURCE.com. Of course we made changes to better suit the set up and how I plan to run the car. I will go into more details regarding the motor in the next installment on www.tunerzine.com. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed! "

It is crazy how the new mounts shift the motor forward so much.

I love the way the bumper was cut to get the air to the FMIC.... hmmm that is a free modification!

Whats the big silver "tube" in front of the engine? You can see it better in the pics on the bottom.

Thats the GMPP intake manifold.

As for the engine, is it a 2.2 L61. They just did the 1000HP build which uses the LSJ head and the destroked crank.

That could easily be a street car if you took off the slicks and put on street tires. It still has all the factory lights and indicators. The dash is there and I am sure it has a seat belt. Why couldn't you drive it on the street?

It says right in the atricle that it's a 2.0, not a 2.2

It's odd, he talks about the Cobalt SS and the article says 2.0L but they show the 2.2L

you can't drive a car like that on the street. First of all im doubting it has half of the safety features that come stock which are required for legality (air bags), it most likely is way over emissions, i can garuntee it is over the legal dB limit, and among many other things it would be rediculously dangerous to drive a 1000hp fwd car on the street unless you had extensive experience with it.

it's an automatic for one, not sure why you couldn't drive it on the road, the only thing that makes it not street legal is the lack of airbags and normal saftey equipment standard on street trim cars. You think half the cars that are on the road that are pushing over 500+ hp are street legal? I can tell you half of them don't have the "real" safety equipment they truely need to be on the road..I would be scared to drive a viper or a C6 Z06 vette for the simple reason that they provide no saftey or guarentee that you will be ok in an accident or another thing that happens while you drive.

People over look the fact that it's basically a street car still, no way he would be able to participate in half of the events he wants to because of that.

I am not trying to say you couldnt drive this car on the street...you could, but it would be stupid. It's competely illegal for one, it is so low you would bottom out on the smallest of bumps, it would be difficult to control with street tires, etc. You could drive it on the street, but when i hear street car, i think of a car that would be suitable for a summer toy, if not a daily driver. This car does not fit in either of those categories.

by the way, the z06 and viper both are completely street legal, have airbags, and all required safety features. They are actually fairly safe cars, but that is not the point...you are comparing a purpose built drag car to a stock super car. Completely different categories.

that isn't street legal you idiot. You just can't stop making yourself look like an idiot can you? Technically...your car is more like the cavalier than mine is like the previous v6 mustang.

If you think that car is streetable why don't you just take out all the airbags in your car. It would drop you a good 70 lbs at least and make you a little quicker. Or are you too much of a pansey?

The street legality of that car depends on what state and county you live in. Not having air bags does not make a car non street legal. Emissions might. But that depends on where you live.
