If you think that car is streetable why don't you just take out all the airbags in your car. It would drop you a good 70 lbs at least and make you a little quicker. Or are you too much of a pansey?
I could have swore he said it in the begining of the video.........."road legal"

Let's just take the time to sort things out. Technically anyone that buys a V6 mustang is an idiot. let me guess, convertible? did mom help pick it out?. You've owned yourself!

Whats with all the concern about airbags.....car seat not safe enough for you.

While states have many of their own little rules about road legal cars many have a few of the same standards. I'll go out on a limb a guess that car doesn't have any cats or resonaters which should make it 'illegal' in most states but that really shouldn't matter cause unless you go in for inspection you'll probably never get caught unless it's extremely loud.

But why would anyone want near 1000hp FWD on the street? You'd have to start a race from around 130 and you would still get wheelspin.

As far as dissing on v6 mustangs...well how many non-GM cobalts are running 10's? 11's? LoL 12's? 0? Now v6 stangs? Probably not many, but more than 0.

So if anyone who buys a v6 stang is an idiot cause they bought the 'slow' version, does that apply to LS, LT, SS non S/C cobalt drivers as well? Afterall they bought the 'slow' versions too.

MX-3 Precedia, ford escort wagon, ford focus, pt cruiser, toyota echo and any v6 mustang especially convertible, are on my **** list. It has to do with the person that buys the car. If its given to you fine, if you purposely chose that car than you got problems in my book.

As for the other cobalts, as a cobalt owner I like all cobalts (cept the ricers).
"Non-GM Cobalts" ??? running 10's 11's 12's ..........lol .........im guessing 0

Who wants a 1000hp FWD car? I'll take one. Anything over 300hp in FWD is pretty useless but the fact is that some guy wanted it and bless the great world we live in, that if you want something and got the money you can have it.

STAY ON TOPIC

Now then, this car has many things to make it non-street legal. As mentioned, it varies by locality, mostly state laws. Here is a list of things I saw that are usually not street legal...

No front reinforcement
GMPP intake manifold - non emmisions compliant
No catalytic converter
No muffler
No OBD-2 compliance
Betcha it can't run on street legal pump gas
MSD distributor style ignition - non emmisions compliant

You can argue with the law all you want, the law always wins. "But officer, I was only 5 MPH over the limit" Well guess what, you just admitted to being over the limit, so you in fact broke the law.

As far as the engine and trans build, as I said, it is word for word from the build book. It uses the 4t65 race trans, the engine is tilted forward to allow room for the trans, which in combination with the GMPP intake is why there is no longer a front reinforcement. It is a 2.2L L61 engine using an LSJ head and the destroked GMPP crank which reduces the displacement to 2.0. Trust me.

Thanx for the clarification, was wondering what was going on with the engine.

almost everyone that just posted agreed with me that it isn't street legal. I can add to the other guys list too. The crash bar is replaced with one that isn't street legal, it definately is not emissions compliant, it will be BY FAR too loud, which will draw a lot of attention to you with cops, removing the driver airbag on any car that is not lawfully a "classic car" which i think is before umm 82 or something...is illegal. The list goes on and you just agreed with me that almost 1000hp on fwd is pointless. Do you realize how hard it would be to control on street tires? I hope you get to drive a 1000hp fwd car in your lifetime because you will most likely hit a tree or a big truck and that would just make me happy. You are a disgrace to all car owners p7x. You are exactly the kind of guy that starts the domestic vs import fights. Trying to compensate for gods screw ups when he made you by trying to rag on people that are posting completely on topic is just making you look like the ass hole that you are. Oh and by the way i ran a 14.9 stock which is what some of you ss/sc guys have run, and no it's not a convertible. What did you drive when you were 16? A mini van?

p7x, im sorry for offending you for considering the danger it puts everyone else on the road in if you drive this kind of car on the street.

oh and i looked at your car domain...does it suck to have a receding hairline? You look like you are 40 man!

Really sad, this angry at such a young age. Disgrace? I was driving cars or anything with wheels since I was 7, won more kart races than you've seen ****. Start domestic vs import arguements? Im a turbo import fan that bought a SC domestic, good call! Aint compensatin for ****, I dont drive a Porsche. Look at mister havent hit puberty and drive a V6 mustang trying to be like the big boys.....pathetic. 14.9 is good for a civic dx hatchbach . Thank god it not a convertible. When I was 16 i was driving a leopard tank and training to fight for my country and others around the world. I didnt have mom and dad buy me a poser stang.

You never offended me, it was just for fun, to watch you get upset. Sorry you had such a bad time, but ur young u'll bounce back. You just better hope theres aribags where ever you go pansey. Checkin me out are ya?, flame, this post my hair last post my *****. If you noticed the cars power pins me in the seat and sends my head back. You'll understand once you get a real car.

Smarty Art, sorry for messin up your thread.

What is wrong with the SVT focus or Focus RS or Cosworth Focus? And what about the turbo 2.4 pt cruiser???

Quite a few people on this site chose SVT foci and I know of one pt cruiser on here faster than every cobalt on this site.

Now back on topic, I would take that bet about it running on pump gas. It won't make nearly that power, but I guarantee they will have a street tune that runs on pump gas.

What rock do you live under . A 1000 hp street car in this day and age is nothing uncommon , com on . Were not talking daily drivers here , so lets not get over **** about the term street car and nit pick . In the hot rodding world , if it has registration , working lights and signals and can be tuned to drive out on cruz night ....its a street car

Nice to see a high profile guy like Jason hookin up with the Cobalt . And its nice to hear he jumped ship on Honda on the Cobalts merits . Nothing but good news for us

I just don't care for Foci, the cosworth is badass. pt cruiser even with the turbo what a stupid car. I really don't care if they are faster. Theres tons and tons of cars that are faster than me but im not basing my judgement of vehicles on speed alone, its the whole package and the experiences I have had with them, that I don't like.

Im sure everyone has 1 car they dislike. I know for a fact because I created a thread for it. My list happens to be more than 1.

Good answer.

I am not a fan of Mustangs, but I respect what they have done and can do.

Well it is far from a street car. They have to of done internal strengthening (some people questioned this in this thread). It looks super. One thing is for sure. unless you deal with traction issues and have slicks the 1000HP range is a wast of money. you will see pics of coil overs and there is likely other traction devices that we cant see that are being used.
