15% oil life
all that thing does is count miles until your next oil change, if your changing your oil before 6k miles your waisting your money, synthetic holds up much longer and we can go way over 6k with mobil1, take the mobil1 land rovers for example with over 200k on original mobil1 oil, if we ran regular oil it'd be wise to change early consistantly due to the oil breaking down, however synthetic doesn't break down so it maintains its protective properties no matter how old it is, were more the less changing our oil to keep the insides of our engines clean and free from any loose debris, but our oil doesnt go bad and turn to sludge like conventional, im no expert just going on a comparison article i read in a car magazine
It calculates oil wear based on RPMs and oil temperature, pretty accurate really. Most cars do not need an oil change at 3000 miles, it is just tradition. You can never hurt your car by changing the oil too soon, I rarely let mine go below 40%.
the GM oil life is one of the most accurate things GM has ever produced.
look it up.. you will see how good it really is
although, i do just change mine at every 3000... im weird like that

i never let mine go below 60% which for me is about 3000 miles. I know it may seem like i change my oil often, but i get free oil changes at my work even with mobil 1, so i don't mind it as much.

It's good to change your oil a few thousand miles after you buy it new. The owner's manual doesn't mention this, but better safe than sorry.
