1st Dyno Run.

Hey guys. I just wanted to let you know that I went and had my first "base pull" dyno run today. I have a 3 inch custom exhaust, with a magnaflow muffler, and no cat. Also stage 2 gm kit, basically the mods in my sig.

I had 2 pulls, and on my second pull, I reached 245.9hp, and I forgot the torque number, but its in the glove box.

HOWEVER, the funniest part to all of this, is that the gm stage 2 tune is SO RICH that i hit the 9's in my a/f ratio. I don't have the exact number on me its in the glove box, but the tune is EXTREMELY RICH.

I am wondering if I should have this dyno shop tune me, the soonest they could do it is on july 1st give or take, or if I should buy HPTUNERS and learn to tune myself.

I don't know much about tuning, and dyno shops, but for 5-700 dollars, he is claiming he can tune me and put me up to 285hp "give or take" with a tune. I highly doubt he could get me that high with the mods I have now, but still, he sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

Either way, moral of the story, should I have this shop tune me, or should I tune it myself or have a buddy do it with HPTUNERS.

Thanks guys.

Alrighty, then maybe I should just stay with the extremely rich GM stage 2 tune, and when I add the cai, headers, downpipe, heat exchanger, and meth, it will lean it out a little bit and then have the shop tune me in july.

However the shop will be using this new software called "sniper software" which is supposed to be pretty amazing. Does it matter what software they use, or as long as a tune gets done and done right?

I will do a before and after sound clip when i get the 3inch zzp header and downpipe installed.

lsjwannabe, i think he was thinking on the higher side of maybe with after what i am adding, that with a tune i will hit 285. I am adding, methanol, heat exchanger, dual pass end plate with option b, 3inch headers, downpipe, magnaflow cat, and a injen cold air intake. As far as performance goes, without KILLING my warranty hardcore, thats basically all I can do.

I did order other little things like projectors/hid kit/b&m short throw/ingalls td and other various parts, but that will all be updated in another thread.

The question is should I trust this guy, or should I grab HPTuners and do it myself with NO knowledge and shoot for the best / find someone with knowledge and have them tune me.

Basically all I need to do is get my air to fuel ratio up. I am running WAY WAY to rich, i mean hell I hit the 9's in a/f.
