I would build the 2.2 since it is the best of them. When built it has pretty even HP/TRQ numbers

+1 its not worth it and if you do have a ss/sc you would really know its not worth it.

Yes its possible. You just need to decide how big a project you want and how much time/effort/money you want to spend. Would just a supercharger on your 2.2 get the job done, or do you need the extra strength the LSJ bottom end has, or are you planning on going nuts and youd need to build the LSJ anyway?

This is just a variation on an old saying....."if you have to ask if it can be done, you probably cant do it."

Just the basic engine swap...we are throwing an lsj into the body of a cobalt 2.2. i know we need the ecu, wiring harness, gauge pod but i'm trying to determine how long it would take because i wanna do it between working days i'm hoping it will only take about a week

Yes you can put an m62 on a 2.2.

Whats your reasoning behind putting the 2.0lsj into the 2.2's body?

lol...why not just debadge your ss/sc?

This really won't be worth it...I mean maybe if you blew the motor in the 2.2 I could see rebuilding with a 2.0, but other then that its pretty much worthless. Just slap the m62 on the 2.2 and call it a day.

well with the body that the ss has it wouldn't take much to recognize it as an ss. i think i'll do that i'm still debating if i wanna even do this. Seems like a lot of work. would i have to reflash the ecu or get a new one?

I'm not 100% sure but you would probably need a new ecu, especially if you are boosting the 2.0. I really wouldn't do it if I were you, its going to be a lot of work and take a lot of time for almost no pay off. Whats the point of having a "sleeper" cobalt lol. We are already considered sleepers. Maybe if this was a FULL hahn stage 5 motor build putting down 400whp I could see it, but other then that its not worth it.

Slap a turbo on it and call it a day, or put the s/c on the 2.2 and your set.

whats too much work is swapping motors i would just put the m62 on the 2.2! that easy and call it quits lol or supercharge it and swap the heads out put the 2.0 head on the 2.2

Exactly what do you have? What year LS, what year SS? is the LS automatic or stick? I can swap a 2.2/auto engine in less than 8hrs no problem, stick takes longer, 2.0 takes longer still, if I dont have all the proper tools even longer yet.

This more then likely won't happen, we should let this thread die lol. Don't do the swap, its not worth it. Supercharge the 2.2 and call it a day.

the '09s have 5 lug now he could just claim that...i highly doubt that there are many that own different cars that will be able to recognize that...

I supported you. i actually love STS and plan to do a setup with it one day.

and i'm not mocking him i'm just saying it would be easier/more cost effective to change the fascias.

I am not knocking him, I just dont think he understands whats involved, I asked for some info so I could help. Unless the SS is heavily wrecked its probably easier to make the SS look like the LS than it will be to make the LS fast like the SS. Just a less intensive swap, even if it meant swapping suspension bits and body parts, its just easier than swapping an engine, ESPECIALLY if the LS is an auto.
