2.0 fuel problem?

My car the other day in 3rd gear at WOT started sputtering and wouldnt go any farther up to redline. I switched into 4th and it was fine again.
Wideband read 12.5 so i knew something was up. thought it was just a fart.
Today it did it again in 2nd, loud backfire and the wideband only reading 12 - 12.5.
im thinking fuel filter? the car is fine down low.
has 33,000 on it. is it time to change it anyway?
Any other ideas? Thanks for any and all help

Replaced your fuel filter!!!

Mine was completely clogged at 30k miles!

I had the same issues with sputtering and hesitation under WOT.

just put in injector cleaner, new 60#ers only have about 4 thousand on them. Oil will be changed next week along with a fuel filter. new rims/tires just put on. doing brakes in another month or so along with cooling.

It seems to be the majority say fuel filter so im gonna try that along with buying some new spark plugs. What was the gap i should be running again? .35?

If that doesnt work I will try taking apart the intake and make sure everythings good there, might as well buy a new filter while im at it. maybe clean off the maf too.

questions comments still welcome and thanks for the help so far everyone

nah it boosts the same. Im catless so I know its not that. Changed the fuel filter. looked like straight black coffee coming out so at least that is changed. still the same problem though. gonna meet up with fred from SMG this week and hes going to look at the flow rate on the injectors and try reflashing it. hope that fixes it im getting pissed.

it actually needs time to clear out the lines as well? Im wondering too if maybe I got a batch of bad gas. would that make it act like this?

I hope its a cheap easy fix too!

Hey man I had that same problem I replaced the plugs and that didnt do anything, then changed the oil/oil filter mainly because it was due and that didnt really help the issue.

What I did was removed the mass airflow sensor on the intake, and VERY GENTLY wiped the hot wires (when installed on the intake these would be suspended in the airstream) with a piece of paper towel. When I did this a little bit of grime/oil came off from the side of the wiring facing the airstream. The car runs great now (did this ~2 weeks ago), what I think is that because the sensor was a little dirty, the extreme airflow change when going WOT would cause the car to hesitate/sputter because the MAF would be giving the ECU an airflow rate voltage signal that was all over the place causing it to constantly adjust/change the AFR, but what the hell do I know.

Also ordered a new fuel filter and am going to install when it comes in.
