I have a G5 GT

Looking to swap this over to a 2.o LSJ

for race only purpose.. it should work well.. since the tranny./axles/ upgrades are sooo much available

hmm honestly i'd look into getting custom axles and make the F35 tranny work with your current car .. you have better tech and larger displacement

hello

I can kinda see both sides..

I want something for time attack.. Power to weight..

I also want something where way way way more parts are for sale

the axles/trans are junk on a 2.4..

any other comments.. also

ANYONE done this swap or tried?

To the best of my knowledge nobody has swapped an LSJ into a G5 or any other non SS/SC Cobalt.

I would recommend, like elecblue said, looking into just swapping the F35 trans and keeping the 2.4 block. Keep your VVT and extra displacement, and boost her

I don't know if anyone has done the trans swap before, but I would think it would be much more cost effective and worthwhile in the end.

someone just swapped an LSJ into an old cavi.. that being said .. they went full standalone / distributor system

also

the F23 tranny isn't junk.. nor are the axles.. zzp has taken the axels to 360 whp

if you want find a F35 with LSD and get the spacer made/ new clutch and flywheel so you can run the F35 on the 2.4.. then get a set of DSS axles if you're scared of those.. and boost the car

The only thing I can advise would to buy a new car.

Why would you want a Cobalt as a race car anyways.

you'r way better off supercharging or turbocharging your current 2.4L

power to weight? i dont understand.

are you comparing the weight difference between the LE5 and LSJ?

2.2 ecotec

OK
my car is pretty modified.. and a few problems i had with it was making power, overheating, custom tuning, axles, transmisson

with a 2.0 swap all the parts are available.. I want more consistant power..

I had a 2.4 garrett turbo, carrillo rod/wiseco piston, the whole 9 yards..

i have redid my car.. it used to be a GM sema project vehicle..

what kind of power are 2.0 GMPP stage 3 making??

Under 300. If you built a 2.4 and threw a snail on it you should be well above that already.

if you dont want custom, the swap isent possible. if it was simply bolt on bolt off, so many other people would of done it already.

So you want an SS/SC, you bought a G5 GT, wrong car?. "Custom" is your only option. It will not be an easy or cheap swap. fact

Bolting the motor/trans and related parts into your car is one thing, that part you could call easy. However all of the required corresponding components would make the cost and work involved just not justifiable.

We're trying to give the most reasonable solutions to your goal, take it or leave

If you can be more specific about your exact expectations and end goals we can be of more assistance

i read about an lsj to lnf swap....required every lil harness and sensor to be swapped......everything electrical....so a donor car is def required

or like said before...u can go full stand alone

I just don't get this. By the time you factor in the cost of the LNF and all the harnesses, sensors, etc etc etc you are talkin some serious coin

For that you could make the LSJ bullet proof, build a monster head and slap on one hell of a snail.

Makes no sense to me. Why not build what you have, no need to re-invent the wheel

1) The LSJ/F35 swap to a G5 isn't exactly a feasable/cheap project. You'd be further ahead just buying a used SS/SC and just doing the bumper swap to turn it into a G5.

2) If you're gonna keep the G5, the LE5 and F23 are more than capable of holding power. The LE5 is good for a respectable amount of power, and the F23 would only really need a better clutch.

It isn't impossible, but it can become a very expensive project if you don't do all your own work.

links to a build thread or anything? I'd love to see all the work that went into that process.

I guess if you could get the parts cheap enough, and do all the labor yourself.

Paying a shop for this would be unreal
